I hope it doesn't turn into "Rugrats".

I too think they should tone down a little bit and highlight all shows as equal as possible, but I can't control everything. Make room for me Spike.

I'm not really sick of PPG. If I'm not in the mood for it, I basically change the channel. And the movie? I'll basically not go, if I'm not up to it. The sixth season? Well, if I'm changing the channel when it comes on in the first place, why does it matter? I won't notice if there were even twenty seasons. It seems more to me that Cartoon Network at least gives every Cartoon Cartoon (except C&W) it's space and time to air; Nick doesn't, with Rugrats appearing sometimes eight times a day.

It all comes down to one thing: ratings. Cable channels have a different ratings system that the networks. Its more like a random poll, in which people fill out a survey. Last time they did them (I think November), Scooby Doo and the Powerpuff Girls were the most highly rated shows on the network.

When you present those figures to advertisers, you can justify a higher revenue for their ad space. Thus, CN gets more money per commerical if they so desired. Either way, its a spike in the ratings, and showings keep a competitive edge against other channels, such as Nick.

So who's to blame? The majority. What can you do? Not much, aside from what you're already doing. You don't have to love the show, but understand that its not getting attention by some guy in an office, its getting attention by your fellow TV watchers.

A suggestion...make some fan sites for other Cartoon Cartoons. This site got attention from the network, and I bet your site could as well. So where are all the Sheep, Cow and Chicken, Johnny Bravo, ect. sites? Oh big surprise...not many. Who's to blame for the attention there?

And we're going to keep right on giving it! I'm very much looking forward to the movie. :)

Exactly. The show is just flat out good. Doesn't mean its the best, since we all have different tastes, but the show is well written and visually alluring. So what...the show is over advertised and merchandised, but its for a reason.

Figure it this way. Cartoon Network owns ALL of their Cartoon Cartoon series. They could market any of the series they'd like and it would cost the same. They chose to do the Powerpuff girls because of the fans. Its that simple.

Man, CartoonFridays took the serious argument points! ;)

Okay, I admit it: I don't watch the PPG much, and any chance I can watch it, I DO. But that's very, very, rarely. So I'm biased toward saying the show's still fine.

But really, I think while PPG is getting a lot of attention and merchandise, it really hasn't let this get to its head like Rugrats did-I watched a PPG eppy recently, and it was still very clever and funny. Besides, unlike Rugrats, the animation is a lot more alluring and pretty. ^^

All in all, I think PPG deserves its fame-it has kept its soul and wittiness still, even while being mega-popular. For now, at least.
