I'm assuming you're refferring to Brave and the Bold, and I'm sorry to say it's a good ways off. He hasn't even begun to write it yet, so I'd say at the very earliest would be late this year.

Yeah, he has his Marvel Spiderman / Black Cat 4-6 issue series to do first and that is still in the works so we have a while to wait.....

He also starts filming on his new movie this summer, so we'll probably have to wait until that's pretty much wrapped up as well.

I doubt you will see Brave and the Bold this year. He's a very slow comic book writer. Remember the dealys on Daredevil? That's why DC required him to have a certain number of scripts turned in on Green Arrow before the ever went to press. He's certainly not hired for his speed of writing, but he's got so much else going on you can hardly blame the guy.

I blame the guy. He should take on these projects when he knows he has the time. Remember, GREEN ARROW was announced in 1998. If he knows he doesn't have the time, he shouldn't make any agreements to write it, or make any public announcements. That's just not being a good businessman, or very courteous for that matter.
But, hey, just means I won't have to spend another $2.50 a month for awhile.
Green Arrow was WELL worth the wait, he really outdid himself on that one. But cut him some slack man, he's a genius. The Clerks comics were done GENIUSly, as was the movie and animated series. Brave and the Bold will be worth the wait.

Yeah, but you kinda get what I mean? Personally, I think GREEN ARROW doesn't hold a candle to Smith's Daredevil stuff. I was pretty much expecting to be blown away like I was with Daredevil, but it just didn't happen.
Anyway, it's just a personal pet peeve of mine when writers just announce something and put it off and put it off, or their book ships late constantly. Very few comics are worth the wait, and in my opinion, GREEN ARROW was not worth waiting three years. Kevin Smith even admitted that he was putting it off, not neccessarily because he was busy (see the letter coloumn for GREEN ARROW #1), but it was just "Oh, I'll get to that...someday."

Eh, I understand where you're coming from, but I've just learned over the years that its part of the industry. Personally, I don't "wait" for any comic anyway. If I hear of somethign interesting, I keep an eye out for it, but I don't really "wait" on pins and needles for anything anymore.

I'm with Clayface on the concept that I don't eagerly await anything in comics much anymore. Is that a bad thing? I remember a time when I couldn't wait to see Secret Wars or the issue of Amazing Spider Man with the black costume. There were days when I had an enthusiasm to see new things in comics, now it's like I lost that. Somehow, I don't think that's a good thing.
As for Kevin Smith, it's not just comics he delays. How many times are his DVDs delayed? I cannot believe Jay and Silent Bob Strke Back came out as a two disc set on time. That is a FIRST. But still there is his promise to bring back the Clerks animated series, that never came to be or it's still in limbo. Maybe he does take too much on himself, but I guess I'd rather have him do that and make sure the stuff comes out right than have him turn into some hack that turns out movies and comics and material just for the sake of doing it.
Technically it didnt come out on time, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was scheduled for the 12th for a loooong time, then in like January they up and changed it to the 26th.

Last I heard about the Clerks TAS was that he was looking for a cable broadcaster (like HBO or Showtime) to pick up the series and it sounded like he was very close but the deal seems to have broken down. If nothing else there is a Clerks: TAS movie that is on the slate at Miramax and should tie up the series - but not until 2003 or 2004.

When I first heard the disc announced in November on the News Askew site, they said it'd be out on the 26th.

However, this is a good thing. It takes time for animated films to be done. He said 18 months at the earliest, and I can understand that. Especially since he's filming a movie in July.
And I agree with Calhoun. I want to see his discs/comics done right. And if I have to wait longer, so be it. In the end, it's all worth it.
