Baby Blues - "The Christmas"(the original pilot that only aired once on television and then never again. Yay!) It just felt so much better to see the old people swimming in a pool. It just fits in so much better as an adult block, I can watch the entire thing through and not want to change the channel. With Adult Swim Action I just want to watch the first hour then switch to something else.
Then, I'll just say that I'm really liking today's Home Movies, and it's great that we can sleep an hour earlier.

Home Movies was too great! Needs a Thursday repeat, too bad there is none!

According to the schedule, Rocky and Bullwinkly and The Popeye Show are part of AS. R&B can make sense because the adult audience will remember this show. The Popeye Show should've been here in the first place.

Home Movies: "Therapy"
Another hilarious episode from the greatest television show ever. I liked the chemisty (Or lack thereof) Between Linda and Brendon. This episode didn't force any sub-plots, witch was refreshing. McGuirk's gums thing was more of an after thought that he was obsessing over. The only thing I was dissapointed in was the lack of Jason, but the few seconds he was on he was hilarious (Jason + British Accent = Funny).

Man. That Home Movies was AWESOME. After the dissapointing "Dad", this episode took the new characters a bit farther, while still managing to be comedic. The dialogue totally drove this episode. The best bits were all of Brendan and Paula's talks, and the McGuirk/Brendan interplay. Some really sharp insight were made here into the whole pop-psychobabble therapy thing as well. Every single thing about the therapy sessions were superb. Even the movie rocked. Best of all, we saw HM characters really DEVELOP. Brendan showed some backbone, Dad began questioning his wife, etc. Great Overall. I say A. Too bad it won't be on again Thursday. To be frank, there wasn't really anything wrong with this episode. Jason and Melissa might not have been featured alot, but that's ok, because some others got extra screentime. I'm still missing Erik, but other than that, this ranks among my top 5 episodes of HM.

"Therapy" begins and interweaves with a segment that should be placed high on the "Best Home Movies memories" list: the "shrinking" Brendon film. Perhaps for these several moments I should consider this episode to be better than last weeks.
There are numerous pluses: the amazing Paula and Brendon conversations which always seem to bring a smile to my face; Brendon, Jason, and Melissa's comments toward the film they're currently making; McGuirk's gingivitis problem; several instances of what seemed like improvisational dialouge; the ending; and of course, the amazing, hilarious, off the wall clips of Brendon's movie, as I said before. Jason, Melissa, and Brendon create these sort of characters in the movie that I think will linger in my mind for awhile.
There are some negatives, however. There were a few semi-long stretches of time where I didn't laugh; mainly during the fight scenes between Brendon's dad and his soon to be wife. It didn't seem so humorous... it seemed more serious, but in a bad way. Got annoying, really.
The therapy sessions were also somewhat of a letdown. I did laugh a little at the book the therapist wrote and such.
Was "Dad" better? It's extremely hard to tell. I don't know, really; I think that I might like this one even more because of the pluses. They hugely outway the negatives.
All in all, a pretty good episode. Grade: A-

An Adult Swim disclaimer............for Rocky and Bullwinkle? What the heck kind of R&B episodes are THEY showing?

The disclaimer probably has to air, no matter what the show is rated.
R&B is really more of a fanservice show for the adult audience who remember the days of classic cartoons. The Popeye Show should've been on AS all along.

HOME MOVIES
Brendan's movie was a satire on The Incredible Shrinking Man, a great anti-nuclear war B&W classic AMC runs infrequently. Not sure, but the monarch angle might've been a ref to The Madness of King George. And a full-size woman marrying a tiny man with a tinier man in his hand was just surreal. And I agree that Jason does a great foppish Brit accent (Melissa's is only fair).
The Dr. Katz-ish therapist who kept saying "shouldn't" is a bad word, as a former psych major, made me both laugh and squirm. DYN the motorcycle jacket with the skull and studs on it? I wasn't sure if it was the doctor's or Brendan's dad's--if it was the doc's, it'd have been all the more funny (a whitebread like him dressed as a Hell's Angel). Plus his overanalyzing of Brendan's inspirations give a bad name to psychotherapists everywhere. Somebody should check to see if his degre is written in crayon. Even worse--but hilarious--is "Daddy" McGirk trying to play Freudian, claiming Brendan has a pseudo-Oedipal complex.
Brendan's dad still hasn't ditched the fiancee, who starts loud verbal fights in public places and complains about her shoes being the reason she'sa poor mommy figure. "Maybe you should bring different shoes for when we have Brendan." "Stop patronizing me!" Oh, my brother and I have both gotten involved with women like her--NOT PRETTY.
BABY BLUES
Sort of retreading old ground here--new parents feeling out of the loop and seing everybody's having fun but them, and a kindly stranger who turnes out to be Santa (though I seriously doubt St. Nick has naked woman mudflaps).
When Daryl says to turn off the TV if you see a network logo that isn't PBS, the WB shield pops up at the corner of the screen.
Loved the caricature of Richard Dawson in the Family Feud--looking a lot like he did as Cpl. Newkirk on Hogan's Heroes--but why did he sound like Larry King? For my money a cockney accent would've been funnier.
Poor Wanda. Lusting after puppets and then getting disenchated that her husband isn't a workaholic saint. And then poor Daryl, saddled with the baby out of spite.
Interesting take on Rodney--feeling supplanted by his younger siblings, acting out to get attention. It seems he was a natural birth while his brother and sister were Cesarians (maybe a bit more than I needed to know). The kid must be pretty strong to move a baby crib with a string and suction dart.
Like my niece, Zoe loves French fries.
PSYCHOKLAHOMA
Highlight--Zorak uses his "beautiful man voice"! And Brak's mom sings like an angel! Pity Thundercleese's acting is so wooden....
Loved the TV scientist who was a weird cross between Beakman and Yoda. That was 70's pin-up goddess Charro as the (unseeen) lab girl, shaking her "cootchie-cootchie" for Brak's lusting Spanish father.
ZORAK
Highlight--caricatures of the cast of Different Strokes. If Zorak had never been born, maybe Dana Plato wouldn't have been forced to do porn and would still be alive today. Freaky. "What was with your voice back then?"
Home Movie Review
This episode of Home Movies rocked! I loved it! It kept me entertained for the entire thing! Everyone wants to watch it again on Thursday, I can if I want. I always tape the Adult Swim.
From now one I guess he can't say "should." ^_^
Baby Blues Review
It was funny. I just don't like the fact they air the Christmas episode when it's almost Spring. The whole "being attracted to Bert" thing was very funny indeed!

Home Movies: I think it's likely that I'm the only one who thought this one was good and nothing more. After finding "Dad" quite funny, this one was just...bleah, because of the tedious resturant and therapy scenes. However, the shrinking movie and the "should" conversation between Brendan and Paula were classic.
Baby Blues: Was this the pilot? Am I confused? Well, whatever. This was pretty funny as well. The Baywatch and Sesame Street parts were definitely the highlights, and it was interesting for Rodney to show he has a soul. The "Santa" thing is so cliched, however, that even adding a big rig didn't save the ending.
Brak: This is the first time I saw this episode, and I found it very funny. For those who have a tape, GO AND SLOW-MO THROUGH THE SéNOR SCIENCE CREDITS. You're in for a treat. A screw-up, though: How can Zorak sing like Lance Bass if Carmine's still lodged in his throat?
Sealab: This has GOT to be my favorite episode. Probably cause of the French guy. :p
Space Ghost: GREAT episode! I especially loved the ending with Raymond and Banjo. The classic Space Ghost clip was a riot, too. Zorak was ridiculously off-model.

It was full of Sexual innuendos. But they are tame by today's standards.
