I'm thinking about writing an all-new editorial about the lack of respect that CJ has gotten tonight. Should I go through with it?

Just be happy that CN is at least doing some sort of a tribute to him, even if it's not what you have in mind.

Check the other thread I started earlier this evening, then see if you can guess which way I voted ... ;)

I think the tribute was okay (especially the Toonheads) (overall, not great, but okay) ....... IF they put together a true tribute for later, after they have time to do a decent job.
..........IF............

I didn't catch it ;_; Was it really that bad? I'm getting the impression that it was kind of rushed and they just HAD to get it on the air at the last minute.

I thought that it was pretty good. No interviews or whatever, but I wasn't really expecting that. The first Chuck Jones show was some of Chuck's best known cartoons, the second half hour were lesser-knowns that were still good choices. I was kind of hoping that they might dig up some old material from the 50 Greatest Cartoons special where they interviewed Chuck, but other than that I don't think that they could've gotten to any material of Chuck himself.
I agree, it was good. Not great, but good.

 I have to be very honest on this topic, but Cartoon Network SHOULD HAVE DEVOTED an entire weekend to Chuck's work, but I guess that CN felt that it was more important to show "Craptoon Craptoons", more Scooby Doo, and more god awful anime.....
CARTOON NEWTORK YOU OUGHT TO BE ASHMED OF YOURSELVES!!!

Actually, it was pretty good.
The first 60 minutes were great...the Early works of Jones, then 3 essentials.....but that's where the good stuff ends.
The last 30 min made no sense...it was not really the *best* or a good choice. It was ok, I guess to simply show 3 Jones cartoons.
I still think a complete Chuck Jones cartoon marathon would be nifty. :D

The only thing they cancelled is the Tex Avery Show, which is classic cartoons already. Toonheads just showed a different episode.
Nelson is right. What we needed was a whole weekend of Jones cartoons. I will add that they should have been shown in chronological order, to see how his cartoons changed over time.

I have to say YES. Chuck Jones is a great director, and he should've gotten a whole weekend of his cartoons. Oh and BTW, if you look on the WAT? board, you'll find that the two CJ episodes have indeed aired before.
