Blood: The Last Vampire & Blood+

How come people say they have nothing do do with each other yet they're produced by the same company, have some of the same characters, and takes place in the same or similar universe as Blood: The Last Vampire?

Keep in mind that I've seen the movie and just a few episodes of Blood+ on Adult Swim.

In Blood the last vampire, Saya is shown to be fully aware of everything that she goes through and Diva isn't in this story. Also, Saya doesn't seem to have the foster family that she does in the series.
In Blood+, Saya's stuck with Amnesia for the first half of the story and Diva is a major antagonist in it. (There's also rape in this one and not in the other. >_>)

I've liked them both, but they are different. Just as GitS the movie is not really the same as GitS SAC. Yet both are good. The differences are good, but know that the stories don't flow together.
