Nicktoons have always had a lot of variety when it comes to music, whether it be classical pieces in Ren and Stimpy, scat music in Doug, Hawaiian stock music in Spongebob, or tribal music in Avatar. The question is, which Nicktoon do you think had the best music, and why?

I think the stock music in Ren and Stimpy was the best. The soundtrack on Rocko's Modern Life in seasons 1 and 2 was great too!

It's hard to beat the catchy vintage tunes from Ren & Stimpy, although SpongeBob's upbeat Hawaiian/NFL library music and Rocko's surf guitar/wah wah trumpet/organ arrangements are close seconds.

- Ren and Stimpy (various pieces of stock music): It's astonishing how many pieces of music have stuck with me over the years.

- The Angry Beavers (Charlie Brissette): I am genuinely impressed with the film, television and song references that Brissette worked into his episode scores. One example, in particular: the opening of the superb "Dag's List" finds a battered Daggett walking through the forest. Playing counterpoint on the soundtrack is a takeoff of the theme from the movie Good Neighbor Sam. Not only is it a neat accompaniment, but a nice joke, in and of itself; no one in the show's target audience is gonna get that reference. I'd even dare say that there might've been people on the show's staff that didn't get it.

- Doug (Dan Sawyer and Fred Newman): Good, quirky music, and it seemed like every character had their own motif: the rock-guitar riff for Roger, the flute melody for Judy, the heroic Quailman theme...

- Invader Zim (Kevin Manthei): Still some of the best cartoon scoring I've heard in recent memory.

- Rugrats: Mark Mothersbaugh's music for the first season was okay, but I really liked Denis M. Hannigan's music for the second and third seasons.

Angry Beavers had that subtle music, but it fit the scenes normally. It was never overshadowing.

I'll agree with everything that's mentioned above and say that if you want some futuristic-like music that's definitely not like any other Nicktoon but still pretty cool to listen to, then My Life as a Teenage Robot is the one you want.

I'm going with Avatar. The music played when Aangs avatar spirit is invoked is epic.

Ren & Stimpy had some good pieces especially the Kilted Yaksman and Ol' Blue Nose songs.

No mention of Hey Arnold's jazz cues?

Since I own the Invader Zim soundtrack and listen to it pretty often, I'd have to say that show. :)

I liked TAB's music as well. Invader Zim had some well composed pieces as well.

And nobody here mentioned ChalkZone...
It was an underrated show, and had some really good music.
Especially in the later seasons when a good portion of the music consisted of remixes/arrangements of the theme song.

I would have to say Hey Arnold!'s tunes are the best.

I like Spongebob's the most, it's very entertaining and sometimes very relaxing.
