Kinda surprised no one made one for this yet so I did it this time

In tonight's episode, the class is held hostage while Butters and Cartman go to a amusment center

I'm just guessing, but I can almost guarantee that Butters and Cartman will save the day, then Cartman's going to doublecross Butter's and let him take the punishment for sneaking out of the village.

LOL, Cartman's running animation for the mofo win.

I suspected they were gonna take a jab at the recent polygamist thing, but this was just a standalone wacky episode with no crazy satire. I do want to go to Super Phun Thyme though.

Now THAT, my friends, was an episode. Lots of good stuff, I'm not sure where to begin. Obviously the parody of horribly boring educational field trips was funny, and they eased up on the "big concept" joke (that the employees won't break character) just when it started to become repetitive. That's not to say they abandoned it, because it did play a major part in the episode, but it took different forms and different roles in the plot instead of just being the same joke over and over again.

One of my favorite jokes was when the criminal "got his cut" early, taking the burger and "thumbing through it" like one would thumb through a stack of dollars. It was just so incredibly stupid I couldn't help but laugh.

Butters was in rare form as well. The twist with them thinking the cops were after them was well-played.

Man, I always hated those field trips back in grade school. The ending was great where all the employees celebrated after finding out they could break character.

I'm really amazed, this seems like a plot driven episode. No satire, no actual parody of something, just a random plot. The ending with the actors breaking character after closing time, revealing stuff that could've been useful earlier. That and such things as Mr. Garrison and Stan & Wendy being a couple again made this feel more like an old-school South Park. My pick for best so-far.

Best episode of Season 12 thus far.

Highlights:
- Cartman looking around for a partner and being rejected by all.
- Butters kicking his foot in the dirt adorabley.
- Super Fun Time song.
- "Remember: Never Break Character!"
- Crying, wimpy Butters.
- Hanging at the traffic light.
- "Stan, you were really brave to do that. But you did sound like a ******bag." "I know. :|"
- Butters still clinging to Cartman's hand even at the very end. Jesus, how much stamina could you have to survive an explosion and still carry an unconcious fatty like that.

Low Points:
- Commercials. :'CCC

Is it just me, or do they try at least once (and sometimes only once) a season to actually go back more to the roots of South Park. No big parody of some sort of news event or old animatied program, no over reliance on Mr. Garrision Or Randy Marsh to overrract to everything, no just sticking to one or two memebers of the cast and forgoing all others. Sometimes, they just remember the heart of the show is in the kids interaction to the world around them with some crazyness involved but grounded and still understandable without having to know about this parody or that thing. Just a straightforward episode. Really after Philepdia Aids, Britney Spears Lottery, Heavy Metal Cat Pee Kenny, Striking Canadains, Spanish Teacher Cartman and Web Obessed Randy I was looking for some more normalcy and was glad to find it here. There were also a good range of jokes here too: Everyone partnering up and no one wanting to be with Cartman, the kids annoynedness at the pioneer talking people, Cartman getting Butters to go to Super Fun time and them having to hold hands so people thought they were coupley, the bank robbers robbing a Burger King (I also am glad that was the ONLY connection between this and the episode they played before this "A Million Little Fibers" since they usually do the whole connecting theme thing with a previous episode when a new one's premiering), Cartman having a good time at Super Fun Time and Butters just being dragged along, Stan/Wendy Kyle/Jimmy managing to get to a phone and call the police in, Cartman and Butters trying to sneak back in (I'm also really glad they didn't just keep them stuck on the street light since that would be too cliched a joke), Kenny being threathened with Death when the pioneer folks wouldn't talk, Stan having to save the day by role playing his way to get them to admit the code, Butters knocking down that one guy who wanted them to let go of they're hands, the pinoeer people only stopping at 5PM (seriously and you thought Cosplayers were bad when on the clock. Well they are but still) and Butters dragging Cartman to the bus at the end. Overall very solid stuff without any irritations you get in the bigger more lessoned focused episodes that try and put some big parody on everything.

This is the last episode of this half of the season (new episodes will resume airing in October). It went out with a bang, at least.

Several highlights, including, but not limited to, Butters hanging on to Cartman's hand all the way to the end, actors taking the "Never Break Character" thing seriously, the way Stan got the villagers to reveal the number of the lock, and others that I can't remember but will when I rewatch it.

That Cartman/Butters subplot must be a tribute/parody of one of those sitcom cliches where two characters that hate each-other are hand-cuffed together.

EDIT:

Oh, and this exchange: "You mean the really annoying place where the employees won't break character?" "Sister, you don't know the half of it."

Is anyone else questioning why we got yet another moral about abusing technology in like the second week in a row?

Other than that it is a strong episode. Cartman and Butter antics sure made me laugh, and the fact that most of the workers didn't break character until they were off the clock was classic.

I loved it....best parts...

Noone wants to be Cartman's partner (I loved when after being rejected by Kyle,he says "What did I ever do to you?" )

The Pioneer Village workers' refusal to break character, even though they're being killed

Cartman and Butters thinking that the police are after them for leaving the field trip

Butters' refusal to let go of Cartman's hand, even when faced with the possibility of being shot

The Pioneer Villige workers immediately breaking character when the end of the work day is announced

I loved the Die Hard parody, as well as Cartman and Butters' dynamic. The historical actor thing was fantastic, I loved that they were so committed to the character even to the point of killing each other.

Definitely the best episode of the season.

Agreed, this episode was very entertaining through out the whole time. The previews once again made this episode seem not that interesting which gladly was not the case.

Well, there was the time Butters showed everybody that embarassing video of Cartman. That would probably be more of an revenge rather than standing up, tho...

I LOVED this ep. It kind of demonstrates that the writers of SP are so damn good they really don't need a lot of gross-out stuff to be funny. Yeah, some people got killed, but not for laughs - just as a way to demonstrate the true evil of the villians. The real laughs came from the poor kids' boredom at having to endure yet another lame field trip and Butter's putting up with Cartman again. That last scene, when he drags Cartman's corpulent carcass to the bus, throws it in, declares his sacred pledge fulfilled and then collapses was GREAT. Also his using Cartman as a weapon. LOLOLOL! 10/10

Sigue sigue sputnik for the win.
I don't know what that is but nobody seems to have caught the Ferris Bueller paraphrase yet.

After Cartman returns from Super Phun Thyme he tells Butters "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around for a while, and do whatever you feel like doing just because you wanna do it, you might miss it."

I don't know what that is but nobody seems to have caught the Ferris Bueller paraphrase yet.

Sigue Sigue Sputnik is an 80s techno band; Cartman's "Super Fun Time" song parodied their song "Love Missile F1-11". You'd probably recognize it if you heard it, since it's from the Ferris Bueller soundtrack. ;)

I laughed, but I thought this episode was not the strongest this season. The Die Hard spoof was entertaining as well as the never break character moments. The problem is the never break character stuff doesn't get funny until your 2/3rd of the way into the episode.

The best part for me was the super sophisticated hi-tech style bad guys acting all serious about robbing a Burger King. I guess they did kind of resemble the "Die Hard" bad guys.

Well it's that time again, time to rank the episodes for this run:

1. Major Boobage (this is an all-time classic, seriously like top 5 ever material)
2. Canada on Strike (they have yet to make a less-than-brilliant Canada episode)
3. Eek, a Penis! (I HATE Bill Bellichick so I loved this one)
4. Over-Logging (classic Randy, simple as that)
5. Tonsil Trouble (much like the subject of child molestation, Trey & Matt are the only people capable of making AIDS funny, also good point about AIDS being sort of "retro")
6. Super Fun Time (pretty basic, simple episode here but still pretty funny, just didn't have as many lol-moments as the other episodes)
7. Britney's New Look (very topical episode with a very apt analogy at the end, kind of "good without being hilarious", but loses points only because they relied too heavily on the headless gag which became uncomfortable to watch after a while, still pretty good though)

Not a single bad or even mediocre episode this half-season, and at least 3 I would consider classic. I believe it's the best run we've had since the 1st half of the great season 8.

I was really pleased with this episode! Good midway season final. This is deffinitely my favorite season 12 episode so far. I really liked the good ol cartman butters storyline, those usually end up funny. And the roleplaying was hilariouse I coulden't stop laughing.

So far this season has been on a bumpy road for me. It's not my favorite I can say that. I see it more as a "rebuilding" phase for south park if you get what I'm saying... their bring back the more "classic" aspects of south park and I like that. Stan and wendy together,Good ol Mr.Garrison, and more that I would point out but can't tink of at the moment...

Anyways fantastic episode! kudos to Trey and Matt

1. Super Fun Time (don't think I need to recap this)
2. Major Boobage (near-classic, although the drug trip scenes weren't great)
3. Eek, a Penis! (a bit of a one-joke -- or two-joke -- episode, but it has its moments)
4. Tonsil Trouble (good plot in theory, but the execution was mid-range)
5. Britney's New Look (good dark satire, but a bit skimpy on the humor, and could've gone even darker; also, the middle act was pretty dull)
6. Canada on Strike (lots of potential, but very uneven, with a few terrible gags and a somewhat half-baked "message")
7. Over-Logging (a one-joke episode)

Jumping the band wagon.

1. Super Fun Time [Every moment was entertaining and was definitley not disappointed when it ended.]
2. Major Boobage [Good solid plot+sub plot that did a nice merge somewhat near the end. Also nice to see Cartman's soft side towards cats.]
3. Canada on Strike [I loved it when it first aired. South Park's Canada episodes are always enjoyable.]
4. Tonsil Trouble [Was great until it got to the Magic Johnson part, then it felt rush towards getting a cure.]
5. Eek, A Penis! [Had its moments, however, I thought Cartman teaching the 4th Grade Class would've been more enjoyable than some random parody school we'll never see again]
6. Over Logging [Randy was only slightly enjoyable and all the parts that didn't involve him were funny enough to keep a smile on my face. Just wish they didn't go all out on that porn gag.]
7. Brittney's New Look [Enjoyable until Kyle and Stan went to go see her in the hospital. At that point, it just turned into giant parody with a headless gag that barely gave me a chuckle. The Miley Cyrus joke was chuckle-worthy though.]

I rolled my eyes a few times during this one (notably for the reasoning behind the hostage situation was for Burger King... yeah I guess that's something I could get behind). There were plenty of missed opportunities, for example, when the Colorado actors refused to break character early on, I smiled and said 'Nice, I bet it'll reveal the whole Colorado history area to be a camp where they raise babies into a cult to believe that they're in the past, and they actually don't realize the date or any new technology!' but.. no. They just were dedicated to their jobs.

The whole hostage plot I believed was going to stem from Cartman taking Butters hostage in Super Fun Thyme, which thankfully didn't happen (and turned out funnier because of it), but the hostage takers were kind of weak sauce.

I liked the whole classroom angle... it's a good thing when the series gets back to school and a lot of characters start moving in and out from familiar areas (Mr. Garrison is being featured a lot more which is great, and so is Wendy!), and it's also a little neat side note that Stan and Wendy are back together, although I'm not really a shipper of any kind, it's just great that they're paying attention to that stuff again. Stan actually pulling through was great, usually they just rely on Kyle more often and that irks me.

Thinking about the episode as a whole, though, I liked it. It just wasn't 'A' material. Still one I'd watch again though.

Bonus points for them doing a huge fake-out moment with Kenny, putting his life on the line but not actually killing him.

B

All right, so Season 12 so far (grades based on all south park toonzone topics):

Major Boobage A+ (Kenny returns, great concept, great parody, solid episode)
Over-Logging B+ (Hilarious concept, very funny, money shot with Randy still hilarious, fetish jokes)
Eek, a Penis! B (Once again, great concept, Mr. Garrison returns to form)
Super Fun Time B (Solid classroom episode)
Britney's New Look B- (Looking back, I'd give this an A. Very dark, I don't care if it isn't funny, it's a great episode)
Tonsil Trouble C (average retread of the last 11 seasons of South Park in terms of what it accomplishes)
Canada on Strike F (the worst South Park to date, pointless in every way)

Is the SUPER PHUN THYME place Butters and Cartman snuck into a take-off on a Chuck E. Cheese's or a Dave and Busters?

Pioneer Village may or may not remind you of defunct San Jose, California theme park Frontier Village.

Will the next batch of South Park episodes in October-November 2008 ever feature that episode spoofing the Golden Compass?

Will the next batch of South Park episodes in October-November 2008 ever feature that episode spoofing the Golden Compass? That's an unanswerable question, seeing as how those episodes won't be made for another 5-6 months.

1. Super Fun Time (Everything felt right and it was just really funny.)
2. Major Boobage (Pure insanity, plus some Kenny focus.)
3. Canada On Strike (I loved it, anyway.)
4. Eek, A Penis! (Enough strange and surreal moments to keep me lol-ing.)
5. Over-Logging (Other than the too boring GOW part, this was hilarious.)
6. Tonsil Trouble (I need to rewatch this, but I thought it was about 8/10.)
7. Britney's New Look (This had an excellent moral and was funny, but I don't think it matches the rest in pure quality.)

7/7 for this run. I look forward to seeing these in reruns.

I heard that there's been an edit in the re-run. In the original airing, the worker who gets shot when he's about to give the keycode starts with two digits that aren't part of "1864", which contradicts the ending. In the re-run he starts saying the correct digits.

I hope there's more new South Park episodes this Fall with Mr. Garrison in it now that he's back to a man after a few years as a woman. Will Mr. Garrison ever find the REAL woman of his dreams someday?
