Unofficial Diablo 3 Countdown [April 18, 2008, 09:09 am ET] - Viewing Comments
Diablo3.com (http://www.diablo3.com/) and related site Blizzplanet (http://www.blizzplanet.com/) are offering mysterious countdown timers that currently stand at 13 days and counting. It is important to note that neither site is owned or operated by Blizzard, but of course they do have some contacts there, so it seems reasonable to trust that this is somewhat significant. They're keeping things close to the vest for now, as the countdown is accompanied by this blurb: "The number of days until half the web links to Diablo3.com. But why???" Presumably we'll know the answer on May 1.

Well as it said it's a fan site. Maybe a mod, maybe a DS Diablo, heck it might even be Diablo 3.

What do you think?

Sounds like a cheap ploy to drum up site hits.

Unlike Starcraft 2, another Diablo sequel would actually get me marginally excited.

I'm sure they'd screw it up by trying to make it prettier though. Personally, I'd rather have a game that looks slightly improved, but is ridiculously long. Give me 50 Acts or so and I'll be happy. I want to get from level 1 to 100 without beating the game ten times over. :p

Diablo 3 Countdown Follow-up [April 21, 2008, 7:40 pm ET] - Viewing Comments
The Diablo 3 Website (http://www.diablo3.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6979) clarifies a few things their recently unveiled countdown (story (http://www.bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?action=viewthread&threadid=87029)) is not going to concern (thanks GameBanshee (http://www.gamebanshee.com/forums/gamebanshee-news-73/diablo3-com-teaser-not-for-diablo-3-a-98530.html)), saying they are not counting down to a Diablo 3 announcement or even a Diablo novel-related announcement.

Just to put everyone on the same page, NO, Diablo 3 wont be around for a very, very, very long time.

Short of the story is no one was around to cover lead position after Roper and the Shaeffer's left Blizz and the guys who they DID put on the project kind of did nothing for a very, very long time (probably played WoW the whole time ).

Thats about as much as I can say about the topic (and thats even too much ).

And this is why countdowns like this are always made of pure, untinctured lame. The reality of whatever nugget of news is being revealed is never, ever as cool as whatever it is that fans are desperately wishing for.

Heh, nice publicity stunts on the part of those fansites.

Diablo 3 could well be coming, though. It may well be announced during the Blizzard Worldwide Invitationals in June. We'll likely see Starcraft II first, but its a matter of time.

Oh well....give it time. It's not like Blizzard would create a new series or anything. ;)

Keep thinking that

Although you guys will probably have to wait till Blizzconn this year

The big announcement turned out to be Blizzard buying the Diablo3 domain name (the site changed its name to DiabloFans (http://www.diablofans.com/)).

I predict that the releases would go: Starcraft II, Diablo III, Starcraft III, Realm of Diablo, Universe of Starcraft. :p

Universe of Starcraft: my grandchildren will love that game.

I was just going to say, "That should take us up to the year 2075 or so."

No Diablo 3 Announcement Forthcoming Part Two

On the off-chance this post about a Diablo 3 announcement (http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/38798/Diablo-3-Announcement-in-Paris-Next-Month) made your pants a little tight, there won't be any big Blizzard announcement in the next issue of PC Gamer. So sayeth the editor: "We're officially squelching the Diablo rumor. We've got two big announcements coming in our August issue, but neither is from Blizzard." What will the super awesome announcements be? We'll find out soon...
