I just saw Pilot Candidate

Another interesting show, and Sweet CGI scenes. There's a few funny things about it though, like how Zero sounds a lot like Tai from Digimon, and the some of the music sounded like it came from Disney(especialy the intro music).It's a little early for me to know what to think about it, but it does have one great thing...... CGI PUPPIES!!! :D :p

I think some of the CGI ruins the look of the show, but that's just me. After seeing the trailer on The Big O DVD's, I had high expectations of this show. During most of it, I wasn't enjoying it, but the ending did get my attention so I will see Episode 2.

Is it just me, or is that long ship similar to the one on Toonami (in fact, at one point even the inside looked like the Toonami ship inside). The dubbing seemed WAY far off at times but I will still give this show a chance as well. Overall grade: C-

This show just didn't work for me. The bad dub and sucky CGI take off major points. A show like Cowboy Bebop can mixes CGI and anime well, but this show just don't cut it. And when was the last time you saw the mouth movements mismatch the dub that bad? E-, but I will watch it next week to see if it improves

Reminded me too much of Zoids, which I didn't care for. The imagery was great and since the dub uses Animaze actors (although from what I've heard, Animaze didn't dub it) I expect a good dub, but outside of that... -_- Definately the low point of an otherwise near-flawless night.

edit: how come everyone seem to not like the show? i saw the first half of the series and i thought it was good. i say it gets better probably in the third episode(or rather ep. 4, since they start with ep. 0) when they actually train.

At least Zero in the English dub isn't as annoying as he was orginally beyond that I never liked this show when I watched most of it the first time.

I didn't like Zoids, and this doesn't look any better. The mouth movements were off most of the time. The plot was pretty boring as well.

I'll give it another shot next Saturday.

It reminded me of Zoids a lot too. It was because of the whole robot chooses the pilot thing. But unlike most everyone here, I liked Zoids and I like Pilot Candidate too. Can't wait for the next episode.

Zoids and PC's CG was made by the same studio, Xebec, thats why it looks the same (they're no Gonzo though).

and guys, wait until you see more episodes of PC. you cant judge a series by its first episode.

I'm suprised by every one. I thought people would be really jumping on this show for it's absolutely horrible dub. I mean they can't even get the voices to match the mouth movements! what the hell is that? Isn't there something that they do to most anime that edits the mouth movements so it fits the words being spoken? I would have thought so.
But the show itself is good i liked it alot. But I truly can't stand that the damn words and mouth don't fit!!!
oh well though. maybe that'll improve.
Oh, and also I don't exactly hate the digimon voice... but like Yu Yu it kinda brings the show down a little for me when i hear the same voices from other shows. I mean these voice actors, can't they make a different voice? I thought that's what voice actors do!!
Certainly nothing like the voice actors who do the simpsons.
oh well. none of these new shows can touch Cowboy Bebop anyway.

The fact that some scenes were computer made made me walk away from it... plot set aside that totally ruined it for me. i hate reboot, and I hate zoids, that just reminded me way too much of em.

Having not seen all of the series I would guess that either they can't produce more (perhaps the Goddesses are/were produced through some sort of lost technology) or that the Goddesses are so hard to control (except for a few naturally skilled individuals) and they burn through pilots like there's no tomorrow (remember the mention about the special blood type) that to produce more would require GOA to recruit even more candidates.

I absolutely hated Pilot Candidate, but maybe that's just because it's the pilot... I dunno... But I hated the CGI, the voice lip synching was horrific, I hated the voice acting.... The plot was boring... The dialogue was stupid... Zero was an annoying character...

But, the chicks are pretty hot... And from the looks of it, there's going to be a cat girl... At least that's a reason to watch. :P

Also I liked the whole "Goddess" concept, only it wasn't done right...

It's a shame, but if this show does not shape up soon, I'm gonna avoid it like the plague.

I really liked Pilot Candidate. It was one of those things you just make a connection to or you don't. Would you rather CN play archaic cartoons no one really enjoys on late Saturday nights? Besides, if you don't like it, don't watch it. Simple.

I agree with you. They could be doing alot worse. I have been an avid anime fan since the late 80's (Akira and the original Nadia from Streamline were awsome), and Im just gratful the entertainment industry in the U.S. is finally realizing the appeal of anime. Its an expensive hobby, and it takes a little weight off my wallet to be able to watch a few on TV, rather than pay 20-30 bucks a DVD. oh well, its just my opinion. :D

yeah i sort of felt like i was watching a disney reject at first but bout half way ..when zero pulled that guys pants down and hair changed colors that was interesting i'll deft give it a couple more weeks before final judgement so far it looks like i'm hooked on it
