I had to steel NightWing's topics, without the risk of prosecution, and heck if people can take "Geek topic" from me then justice is a luxuary!!! :p
Well with the IGN boards being the latest to fall to the pay per use thing I just wonder, or heck let's not limit it. If you had to pay for this sites news would you?

A one-time user fee I wouldn't mind. Monthy/yearly, no.

Probably not. Don't have a job, and I highly doubt my friends would lend me money to pay for a message board.
Odd question, though. God, money sucks.

Before any rumors get started... no, we're never going to charge to use this forum! But we may accept donations through PayPal at some point, cause running this server costs a great deal of money. But it would be completely voluntary, if it ever even happens.

Yeah, that is kinda annoying freakafrodo. I can't understand a thing you're saying.
Do the server costs get paid in full by the banner ads?

Im glad toonzone would never do that but,......if TZ got overrun by corrupt industrialist,.......I would only pay a one time fee.

if it were reasonable...like a 1-2 bucks per month....
we have 1000s of members, if everyone paid a $1 a month, it would help the staff pay for this server big time...
that said.....I really hate paypal...

Don't worry Mattashell, IR Joey's just asking for the sake of conversation.
And sadly, my answer would have to be: no. I'm a stupid little teenager! I live at home! I have to save money for university next year! I only work once or twice a week for a couple of hours! What are you, nuts?

Hmmmm maybe we could pressure Time Warner to subsidize some of TZs cost, Commodore did it for mags and online communities before it went bankrupt.

Hmmmm you know JAB which is the largest erotic cartoon community supports it self by donations but only when they go down do they get atlot of people donating when it is up and running fine their donations revunues go down significantly thus given them a yo-yo effect. I wonder if TZ would have the same problem if it has to resort to donations for a primary sorce of funding.

erm, they aint gonna be giving TZ any money...and would be more likely to close this site down rather than help it...
WB like any corporate entity would rather have ppl using their message boards, and news forums, because that way they get the hits, and earn advertising revenue.

But think about it TZ is providing info on their products but our opinon is not driven by profits. Time Warner can't do that almost every consumer with a brain knows that a company web sight is one sided it is only from their point of view. That is why Commodore subsidized online communities when it was sill around

Ok, another problem with that would be, TZ would then be beholden to TW, and most likely pressured into promoting programs, even if they stunk. Could you imagine TZ having to give good review of movies like Batman & Robin?

Yes TZ would have to put up their press releases and their banners but they would have to do more then subsidize TZ's costs for them to be able to control what we say about their shows. It is pocket change to them yet if TZ tanked their sales would drop a bit.

Short answer on Time Warner: They would sell themselves to Bill Gates for $1.49 before they'd subsidize us.
Cartoon Network is the coolest segment of that gargantuan enterprise, and CN is prone to screwing us over.
Corporations hate fans, and anything associated with them. Why's that? you ask. Aren't fans customers?
Well, yes. But corporations only like their customers when they are quiet and docile and buy exactly what they are offered without any backtalk. Start complaining or criticizing or offering suggestions -- which is what makes a customer a fan -- and the corporation quickly gets ticked off. Because then you're making their life difficult.
You want Time Warner to like you? Sign on to AOL, read Time Inc. magazines, buy Warner Bros. DVDs and CDs, watch Turner networks. And keep your trap shut and your enthusisams to yourself.
That's Time Warner's attitude.

Yeah, you know why we don't get paid? Because we go out of our way to make changes and listen to suggestions; if we wanted to be a bussiness, we wouldn't care what you have to say.
Remember that 'Articool' (http://sony.cloudchaser.com/columns/index.php?view=articools&title=toon_zone_roundtable_toon_game_relationship) a few weeks ago? Notice how Harley says the Batman Beyond game is a waste of money? We might sell it at our store, but we also aren't about to pull the wool over your eyes.

Normal customers picks them up weeks if not months later. If TZ goes down (It ain't this is a what if) your talking 5 to 7 percent loss on TW bottom line next quarter (from loss in CN ratings to loss off rating on other networks that carry WBA shows to loss of sales) and every year TZ become more of a driving force of the fan community thus the more Time Warner would hurt if TZ closed its doors. Since it would take time for the fan community to reorganize and get info flowing again about products and shows
Other big companies bailed troubled mags out and online communities out since it costs them peanuts compaired to the losses they would have if the fan community collapsed.

No way. I would never want to do that. That's selling the site out.
Can I go to the Hall of Spackle?

You might think I am being dramatic: but if CN were to buy TZ, the cartoon industry would be in a bigger world of hurt than it is now. There aren't that many unofficial cartoon websites bigger than us, and yet TZ can't even compare to the hits that video game websites like IGN, Gamespot, and Gamefaqs pull in.

- Foley Is Good:D That's not really selling out since TW wouldn't own it they would just be sponcering it. TW wants TZ do something TZ don't wanta do TZ just walks away from the agrement and find another sponcer. TW owning TZ wouldn't make sence since that would mean paying TZ staff and why do that when it would be far cheaper just to sponcer

I wouldn't be able to, I don't have a job. It's good to see that TZ would never do that to us though.
