I have just heard that UPN has ordered a pilot for a new carnation of "The Twilight Zone". The link below has the whole article:

I wonder if it will help such genius or hurt the popularity...

The original Twilight Zone was genious. The 80's version had some good stuff. Hopefully, the new series will go back to the great, original stories.

I'm very pessimistic about this. However, the first 2 seasons or so of the modern Outer Limits was great, so they could make something worthwhile.

I very wary about this also, especially since most anthology series done recently haven't been so good. I'd like to see them keep the old series in mind and make good stories with a wide range of ideas. From every era and time and of course keep the O'Henry endings, which is a trademark. Something the second series did, but kinda fell short at. Get good talented writers, alot of the writers on the first and second series were top of the line, including Stephen King, Harlan Ellison and Ray Bradbury. Maybe have some by Anne Rice, Clive Barker, Dean Koontz, J.K. Rowling, RL Stine, and others. Get good directors involved as well as actors.

I'd rather see a Creepshow series myself.

I am hopeful of this. I liked the 80's revived series WAY better than the original series. Of course, I had seen many of those original epsiodes so many times, the twist ending stories really didn't have that great of an effect on me anymore, and there are only a handful of those episodes I recall that I still greatly enjoy. But I guess it depends who we get on the new series, but I am hopeful it will be good.

What was your favorite story of the original series and in the 80's series? My fav original series was the one where all the neighbors started to suspect everybody else in the neighborhood was an alien of some kind. And my favorite episode from the 80's run was the episode where this guy committed a crime of not being compassionate and was forced to wear this mark on his forhead that would require EVERYBODY to ignore him for the next year, thus making him feel invisible to the rest of the world. There was quite a bit of strong story telling in that episode, and I absolutely loved the ending.

Now the original series is on DVD, I wonder if they have any plans to put the 80's series on that format as well?

That is my favorite too. Especially when the real aliens gave there explanation of why they dont need to destroy the people beacuse they will destroy themselves. That was really creepy.

Mine's would be, "It's A Good Life". This was the one with Billy Mumy (Lost in Space's Will Robinson), who stars as a little boy (or monster) who has total control over the world. In fact the rest of the world probably doesn't exist, just the town he's in. This episode actually doesn't have a twist ending, no moral message, it's just plain eerie.

The new series there was one that still creeps me out to this day that I have only seen twice in my life. It's with Mare Winingham about this young couple who is visited by this man who gives him a box with a button on it. He tells them simply, "If you press this button, someone you don't know will die. And you will receive 250,000 dollars." There is a twist ending, but I can't help imagining there is a government man out there offering something like this for say population control. It is pretty scary, it's like an urban legend.

I love every eppy of the old show. I'll give the brand new one a shot, but without Rod Serling, it's kind of like renimating a corpse...

Yeah, I remember that one, also. The twist ending is totally spooky. Question is if you don't push the button are you exempt from the effects in the future?
