I have an on-again/off-again relationship with this comic (http://www.ucomics.com/boondocks/). But I am getting back to reading it, maybe even go back and read all the comics on the web site.
I was just looking at this article on Comics2Film, which is a few years old. It reported an interview with Aaron McGruder and The Onion (http://avclub.theonion.com/avclub3536/avfeature3536.html). He expressed interest in making an animated series about the strip but I don't think it went anywhere.
I would love to see it animated. I sometimes agree with his opinions and sometimes I disagree. But that is what makes it a perfect fit for Adult Swim, it has the political and social humor.

I got into the Boondocks thanks to my slightly more cynical older sister. I REALLY got into the Boondocks when McGruder gave a plug to Sifl and Olly. That show was beautiful.
It is a great comic and if he had something to do with TV it would be really interesting.

I agree. They should make a new show of that.
I was suggesting that it air on BET, but John, my brother, burst my bubble saying that Boondocks is not friendly with BET.

Boondocks on BET? That would be irony at it's finest.

I don't quite see the usual Boondocks humor making it into an animated show, even on Adult Swim, especially the jabs at race. For instance, one of my favorite strips was about the BET version of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" called "Who Wants Eight Dollars and a Ride Home" (or something to that effect).
Then again, Sealab did get in a few cracks about "(black) Debbie", so who knows?

Oh god I hope this comic is NEVER made into a cartoon. As much as I miss calvin and hobbes, Watterson was a genius for not letting a cartoon be made from it. Aron McGruder should take lessons from him. I LOVE Boondocks, but as a cartoon it would probably suck. Comics just translate poorly into 30 minutes of one liners. Worse still the cynical edge would be lost. (Just look what happened with dilbert and garfield). Let boondocks stay on the page where it can be read and its integrity can be kept in tact.

How many people here are complaining about Baby Blues cuz they don't think it's as good as the comic strip? I would have to say that if your wishes were granted and this show got made, the disappointment that might come would lead to greater discontent than Baby Blues has created.
