Shin Chan: Nene have a crush on Masao?

Being lucky enough to see some of the original episodes of Shin Chan, and one of the movies, it seems to me that Nene has a crush on Masao. What do you guys think? Am I seeing things that aren't there? Even so I am not sure she contensly knows it.

I know on Wikipedia, it says the only person she has a crush on is a former substitute teacher named Shiizou.

Whenever they hold hands, there is a trinkle of joy in her eyes, she likes to bully him around more than the other boys, and whenever Masao mention his crush on Ai, Nene loses it. In the movie I saw, the gang trys to give Masao encourage to be brave and do something herotic, they tell him to think of Ai and do it for her. When Nene says that, the look on her face says she is thinking "Why you like Ai is beyond me. Why do you waste your time on that girl?"

Of course I am only refering to the original Japanese version. This is only my opinion, feel free to disagree. But nothing short of Yoshito Usui saying I am wrong, is going to change my mind.

That is some sort of vibe I have been getting even from the way out of context FUNi dub. Even in that version, she tries to "man him up." I think one dub episode revovled around Masao being Ai little puppy, and Nene, or as she is known in the FUNi dub, Penny, was angry at her, and tried to get Masao to stand up for himself, but it didn't work, and that made Nene angry.

Well that is why I made it clear I am talking about the original series, not the FUNi dub, FUNi has gotten the approval to do their own thing in terms of direction of the characters in their dub, though with a few rules protaining to Shin pacificly, such as Shin has to be the protagonist, and to maintain an innocence about him. Anyway I am getting off base.

FUNi can change the diologue, but they can't change what is on screen. Any visual hints intended for the orginal show, is still there. While it appears in the FUNi dub she has no such feelings, she thinks he is gay and dislikes Ai for simply being Ai. But even on the FUNi dub on screen they have the hints. Such as the episode in which the gang visted Shin's apartment complex and Masao thinks he saw a dead corps at Yuu's apartment and thinks she is plotting to kill the kids, there was a part when Masao grabbed Nene's hands, and there was a pause for a few seconds and she looked at their hands and had glow on her face, that she was happy about that, while clueless Masao didn's notice anything of course. Like I said before, I think it is more subcontious feelings, I don't think she realises it herself.

I am sure the episode Can't Elope and the episode that was previously mention in which Nene tries to toughen up Masao was very different in the original version, particularly to Nene or Penny's motivation behind her actions.

Judging by their personalties, I bet Misae acted the exact same way towards any boy she liked when she was their age. She still does to this day, she still bullies Hiroshi around. If Masao and Nene ever got married, that could be their future. LOL

While Masao doesn't retun those feelings or even aware of it, he is constantly looking for her to protect him from the world. Of all of his friends, Nene is the most likely person for Masao to hide behind if he hears a scarry sound. His instincts is to hide behind Nene before any of the other members of the gang. I think that is adorable when he does that. I think Masao and Nene when they are together are just adorable. Just as adorable as Shin's puppy dog crush on Nanako, or any crush Himawari has.
