My favorite picture/screen cap in all of death note land:

LOVE this episode. ULTIMATE love.
Higuchi looks so beat when he's getting arrested. kukuku.
Don't touch that notebook, papa Yagami. Rem looks a little lost out there in the car cop huddle. XD Now the whole gang can see her huge bulkyness.

One of my faavorite scenes~ : When Light gets his memories back and the images flash through his mind. For some reason it just sticks out to me as being not only visually alluring but amazingly intense, too. Squee. I love the page in the manga too. It was my wallpaper for like a month the day it came out.
"Exactly as planned" You devil, you. So cuute! Expecially when his eyes flash red with the slimy little grin.

"All to save misa"
"Old habits die hard"
"this has gotta be the longest 40 seconds of my life"
"the white thing over there" XD
This episode has some fantastic lines.

Light is SO fake towards Misa at the end. My gawd XD He acts all concerned about her life span. HAH. Because only shed believe that.

Next Week: The day the world stops turning

Wow, this was such an incredible episode. We finally get Light and Misa's Kira side back, and Ryuk also returns after so many episodes. The scene where Light regains his memories has to be the best scene in the entire episode, and I loved that red demonic glow in his eyes. The next episode preview is perfectly suspensful, with only a bunch of outside shots in the rain with only the word "goodbye" heard.

And next week...it all comes together at last.

"Exactly as planned".

Doesn't quite have the ring of "just as planned", but decent nonetheless.

But yeah, this episode proves the insane amount of foresight necessary to get around L.

One of the things I look forward to in any cartoon, is when characters who are out of the loop finally get in said loop.
And that happened in this episode.
And it was awesome.

The Death Note, along with its laws, and most awesomely important, the Shinigami, have been revealed to L and the police force. Light is evil again, Misa's a cute dolt, and uhm......
WHOOOOO!

I love this show.

Wait, since the people in the investigation who touched the note book believe that they have to kill people within a certain time or they will die,

Does that mean they'll start killing people?

No, they'll die if they destroy the notebook. The second fake rule only applies to people who have already used the Death Note.

Really? I thought if dying from destroying the Death Note was the first fake rule.

I feel sorry for Misa. Her life is now one-fourth the length it originally was. Not that I'm worried, though. I accidentally found out her death on wikipedia.

[quote=Dudley;2830089]Really? I thought if dying from destroying the Death Note was the first fake rule./quote]

It is. First rule: if the Death Note is destroyed/rendered unusable everyone who's touched it will die. Second rule: if someone has used the Death Note, they must kill someone at least once every 13 days or they will die.

Actually it's not. Her original lifespan would of been over by now if it wasn't for the Shinigami who loved her and stopped her from dying by killing the guy who was going to give her. That expanded her original lifespan (by how much who really knows. Don't want to get into that debate again) so now it's just 1/4 of the changed lifespan she had thanks to being saved in the first placed by a Shinigami. Thinking about it Misa is pretty big Shinigami bait from that one falling for her, Rem wanting to save her and even Ryuk giving her a dirt apple. Guess that perfume is really a god of death attracter or something.:D

You know it was obvious from the title and the preview of last week's episode that a lot would happen with this: after all this was Light's revival episode. Where he gets back his memories and becomes Kira again and we see his plan come full circle. However it's more then just Light's revival. Higuchi is killed and Light offically reclaims Rem's notebook. The other task force members touch it and see Rem and start questioning the Shinigami (I liked they're reactions to her and Matsuda trying to rethink about touching the notebook after it was too late. Poor stupid Matsuada). Misa regains her memories of the notebook as well as she offically claims Light's notebook, and Ryuk re-enters the story again. (Funny scene with Misa hugging Ryuk and him giving her a sandy apple). And most importantly not only do we know the details of Light's original plan, but also found he added some notes to the notebook to get the squad to offically release him and Misa out of prision and keep them from burning the notebook. Oh and Misa loses another half of her already cut life span in order to get the Shinigami eyes back to be useful to Light. So yeah really a lot happens here. The ball defintley seems to be in Light's course with him regaining Kira powers and being in a position to take L down with him and Misa offically cleared. Of course L's cheated Death... Note before so could he do it again? The odds look less in his favor but we'll know for sure next week. Until then a gretat revival ep for Death Note. Defintley one of the series most interesting that's for sure.

LOL at Misa eating a sand apple.

This was the plan Light came up with?

IMHO the Death Note should be kept secret.
Having L and the task force know about the Death Note is too high of a price to pay for getting Light and Misa cleared of being Kira suspects.

Unless Light is planning to kill all the people who can see Rem because they touched the notebook...

Having L and the task force know about the Death Note is too high of a price to pay for getting Light and Misa cleared of being Kira suspects.

The problem here, is Rem. Rem made it clear that she would kill Light if he doesn't do something to get Misa out of confinement. Light himself is quite patient and can potentially wait for years to clear his own name, but Rem forced his hand. Freeing Misa was the number 1 priority or he would be killed.

Last time: Thought you had a black cat bone and a mojo tooth? Thought you could make Misa fit inside your hand? Well, Higuchi Kootchie Man, everybody knows you're Kira.

A win for the Daft Punk impersonator crowd. :P

Way to spill the game Higuchi.

Rem, Soichiro. Soichiro, Rem. Don't mind him, he's just a spiritual harbinger of death.

Sure Rem's no looker, but calling him a monster is a bit extreme.

Welcome back, Psycho Kira Light. We've missed you. :anime:

Death Note Hot Potato.

The original is always best.

Is it strange that this episode coincides with news about those two kids in Alabama who tried to copy this show and got suspended from school?

What if everybody started calling you "white L"?

Misa-misa can always get a new manager.

No scream from her? Man she's calm.

The Bonnie and Clyde of death are back in business.

Shinigami glomp!

Misa Amane, the lovestruck ditz forever living on borrowed time.

L's got that itching feeling. The war is on again! And just when this show was starting to get a little dull, too...

Light's "transformation" sequence when he grabbed the Death Note great. You knew what would result in Light touching it, so it was one of the better "**** hitting the fan" moments I've recently seen. Then we finally got to see in detail what his plan was all along, which was neat, even though, as always, I was a bit irritated that everything went according to plan for Light.

It was pretty surreal having everyone in the building see Rem along with them, and then just acting only slightly freaked out about it. You'd think they would ask a lot more questions. Eh, I guess you can chalk it up to them not fully realizing or accepting it's actually happening.

Man, now another full week to see the next episode...

I had forgotten just how much of a conniving bastard Light is when in Kira mode. Welcome back. My favorite moment was probably when he saw Ryuk again. Not sure why, I just liked the moment. I don't get it. Light had the Death Note in hand when Higuchi dies. Higuchi's name was written on the Death Note. Wouldn't L see Higuchi's name in the Death Note and put two and two together? Maybe Light tore up the page afterwards and I didn't catch it. But, even if he did, I still don't see why L wouldn't suspect the person who was holding the Death Note.

The guy above you said it but I'll say it anyway: Light didn't write inside the Death Note. L would be right to be suspicious of Light, considering that he was holding the Death Note, but considering that he'd have no evidence to prove that Light actually did anything, there's really nothing he can do.

I was really surprised the way L acted here...he just hands Light the notebook, Light lets out the most unholy scream of all time, then L just ignores him and stares vacantly out the window. I mean come on he's been watching Light like a hawk 24/7 for how long? And now he decides to just not pay attention when he's sitting a foot away and holding Kira's murdering weapon?

This was still an amazing episode, I've never seen a show that kept me on the edge of my seat this much, well maybe Elfen Lied but that was just wondering who's head was going to explode next.

Anyway! At first I really didnt like L, he was so arrogant and thought he was so unbeatable, now I'm starting to feel really sorry for him. You can just tell, he *knows* things are out control and he is royally screwed, and can't think of anything to do about it. Poor guy.. I really hope he finds some way out of this mess but I dont see how.

So, assuming Misa would usually live to be 80, once we cut her life in half we have 40. Then we cut it in half again... 20.

So she's gonna die really, REALLY soon. I'm assuming that, when she does, it'll throw a wrench into Light's plans and extend the series for another five episodes or so.

Well, this was a good eppy. finally seeing all the parts of Light's plan really did open my eyes to the bigger picture. I still think he did bad by somehow including everyone finding out about the DN and Shimigami's, but I guess there is more that we will find out.

anyway, Light screaming should have gotten L's attention. Instead L just assumes that Light is screaming at Rem. Then Light is super calm all of a sudden (love the red eyes coming back as he becomes Kira-Light). and somehow, I think that Misa doing the eye deal again is also part of Light's plan, which not only would get L killed, but also gets Misa out of Lights hair without making Rem too mad. After all, it isn't Light's fault Misa couldn't remember L's real name.

and is it just me, or after getting their memories back, didn't Light and Misa act completely different from the past few weeks. All this and L just seems to not notice? I am going to have to rewatch this.

Well, if you consider that Light just saw essentially a demon from hell and view his father's reaction as well, it wouldn't draw too much attention. I don't think that's the way it works. I believe it cuts off your REMAINING lifespan. I'm not sure how old Misa is, but lets say she's 20 for simplicity's sake. If she lives to be 80 and she's 20 now, that means she had 60 years left on her life. The first eye deal would cut that time by half, so she would have 30 years left. The second deal would cut that in half again so she would have 15 years left.

Prove that it's a bomb in the ratings? They show the ratings every Sunday on Adult Swim. Usually between 12:30 and 1:00 eastern time.

Ah writer, no plural. And to think that Ohba normally has to cut dialogue when he is planning the chapters.

One thing a lot of people skip over is Misa's life span. Because a death note was used to save her, her life span was increased by A LOT.

Whenever a Shinigami saves a human by killing someone who means to kill them, that Shinigami dies and the remaining life span that Shinigami has is transfered to that person.

We've never really had that touched on too much in the series but based on what we know about the Shinigami spending their days away skeeping probably suggests most of them have built up so much extra life span , it wasn't worth actively killing anymore.

Misa may have a life span of thousands of years for all we know

NO! Then we'll never get rid of her! She'll be around even after the show ends and there'll be a bad spinoff. I actually stopped watching the show when she came on because I hated her so...

Actually, it was touched upon in these forums when she first showed up. At the risk of the war re-erupting, let's just say that there are some who believe that and others who believe something else. But like I said, I don't want to re-open that can of beans. just wanted to let you know that it has been discussed.

*waves peace flag to both sides of the discussion, no more war, okies?*

I'm a new Death Note watcher. I've been watching the past... 4 or so episodes, so I don't know everything, but I've caught on quickly.

I because I have only been watching for awhile, the whole senerio with light was really interesting. He was able to plan so far ahead, that's incredible. But I thought the other guy (forgive me, I forget his name), I thought he noticed that Light's scream wasn't really from the monster.

All of the episodes I have watched so far have been fantastic. I can't believe that this show wouldn't be doing so well in the ratings. My only guess would be that it airs at 1AM, so most people are probably sleeping by then (including myself, so I tape the episodes).

Can't blame the time slot...for some time, the show was airing as early as 11:30.

I'd say it's the fact that it's on the fix, and the fact that the near identical manga (best-selling besides Naruto and Fruits Basket) was released in it's entirety just a few months before the show began airing.

Anyway...looking forward to tomorrow's episode...

Great episode! Great show. My favorite part was when the Chief grabbed the notebook then saw Rem. I mean, I don't care how experienced of a cop you are, seeing somebody like Rem suddenly appear, towering over your men at a crime scene, would be enough to freak anybody out! The chief's second trying to comfort him then screaming, too, was excellent, as well.

Am I the only one that's going to miss Light? He was a likeable kid that couldn't believe himself capable of such evil. Plus, he always treated Misa with respect; I guess it couldn't last, though. I wish we could see a showdown between good Light and evil Light (Kira).

Again, great episode. I'm really looking forward to the next episode. I plan on watching that first thing when I get home!
