It seems like it has been a few years now. Ted Turner banned him from CN. He's one of the most famous Loney Toons, yet we are unable to watch him. I want Speedy Gonzalez.
Who thinks with Turner's power deminishing that Speedy could turn up on CN in the near future?
I think Speedy will one day show up again on CN. It may not be very soon, but it'll happen. I think CN will get more and better copies of the LT cartoons in the future, probably when everything goes digital.
Oh, and you also mispelled "Looney Tunes," for that you get 30 lashes with a feather tied to a piece of yarn. No more, no less. :p

Seeing how politically correct this world has become, you might see a Speedy Gonzales cartoon on CN when Sunday comes in the middle of the week...!

Yes, that's true, but I don't think the French are as easily offended as those of Latino or Mexican heritage...

So far, in the past two years since the Speedy "quarentine" has gone into effect, I have mentioned the ban to at least two dozen people who are Mexican American (working it into the conversation when appropriate instead of bringing it up directly) and not one of them has though this is anything but a stupid idea.
I don't know if Ted Turner came up with the idea on his own (as reported) or if someone put the idea in his head, but it's a case of something that apparently only the most hyper-seneative people would have objections to. But the people at AOL Timer Warner are afraid of offending anyone, so better to not play any cartoons at all that might offend Mexican Americans than just removing one or two that actually could be seen as a little insulting (hey, if you're dumber than Elmer Fudd, like Jose and Manuel in "Crow's Feat" that is a little insulting, IMHO...)

Wow! Two major mispellings in one thread!
I'm sure Speedy will pop up soon.
From what we heard from GAK, he *MIGHT* be appearing on a new "Toonheads" episode.

Well, Speedy HAS appeared on occasion, they play "Cat Tails For Two" , "The Wild Chase" and "Chocolate Chase" rather regularly...though the only one of those worth watching really is "Wild Chase", and even that ain't no masterwork. Of course, Speedy doesn't do a whole lot in these three cartoons. I imagine the problem CN has is that they just haven't thought much about the fact that Turner isn't looking over their shoulder anymore. Also, I think there were some programming heads at CN who were a little nervous about airing Speedy too, if the idea I got from some programmers via CN's email answering room (back when they bothered to answer). Daniel Wineman hasn't made a peep since he talked too me and Jon, and he seemed to have some say in what cartoons aired. What infuriated me was Wineman's opinion that while the Daffy and Speedy cartoons are sanitary and safe for watching, they are "lesser quality" and not worthy of being aired in the LT morning shows. Can you say "Rapid Rabbit", "Strangled Eggs", "Freudy Cat", "Devils Feud Cake"?...I'd rather watch a Daffy/Speedy over those any day. Eventually, I'm sure they will bring him back, but the main way to do that is to get them all from WB, (I don't think they have everything, is my speculation) as well as better copies of the aforementioned "Freudy Cat", of "Dripalong Daffy", "Gift Wrapped", "A Scent of the Matterhorn", "Trick or tweet", "The Foghorn Leghorn", "Scaredy Cat" and other 1950's/60's toons that air as crappy versions on CN. They need to get the Buddy and Bosko shorts (which they do NOT have, confirmed) but without Late Night Black/White, they might as well not bother :(

The irony of this nonsense is, when I was a kid in the mid-60s, Speedy was shown all the time. I grew up in El Paso TX, and half or more of the kids I played with were Hispanic and they loved Speedy! They saw him as faster (therefore better) and couldn't wit to see more of him! *sigh*

I don't hate low-budget cartoons. I hate boring cartoons. Daffy/Speedy is not boring. Besides, another reality they must face is that the majority of the Speedy Gonzales cartoons were made in 1965-1968! And Matthew Hunter does have a point about some other 1960s cartoons not being any better.
I don't expect to ever see most Speedy cartoons back in Cartoon Network's regular rotation.

Care to think it over? Who would of thought that this is happening back then?

Back in February, I wasn't expecting this. There is a chance that we will get some of them back, but the more offensive ones will probably stay off.
Okay, so I'm not a positive thinker.
