Anybody getting ready for an Ice Age (http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/ice_age/) ? Only March 15th!

Maybe....it looks interesting, I'll grant it that. ^^
Maybe Fox is attempting to rebuff SNOW DOGS with its own movie.

...and it'd probably do a lot better than SNOW DOGS, too. :p

BB - I think a LOT of things will probably be better than Snow Dogs :D

It looks interesting. If I can catch a ride I'll probably give it a whirl ^_______^

I'm not a big fan of the designs, but it looks like it could be a lot of fun. Though I have to say, I'm still a bit grumpy that Fox made the animators tone the material down from subversive Shrek-esque levels to more "family-friendly" fare. Ah well, in talented hands it could still be quite good.

Yeah, like a kick in the stones. Anyway, "Ice Age" looks good. I'll probably check it out, even though most of the country will most likely pass on it; Fox has developed a reputation for putting out reasonably entertaining, yet financially unsuccessful animated films ("Anastasia", "Titan A.E.").

I was wondering what company was producing this thing. Warners may be rebutting Disney in more ways than one. A vast wasteland, a large hairy tusked creature, and a small furry mammal that looks suspiciously like a meerkat, placed by fate in charge of a young lost waif...hmmmm....

This is the first time ever that I am interested in a CGI cartoon that isn't from Pixar.

I thought this was from Dreamworks?

That was Shrek. If you look at the trailers it has The FOX logo in the intro so...that means it was from FOX

Yeah, I know Shrek was from Dreamworks. But I seem to recall a post on the boards sometime back that linked Ice Age with Dreamworks. But that was a while back and perhaps the poster didn't have their info right.

Yes, ICE AGE is owned by Fox but it is being animated by Fox owned Blue Sky Animation Studio.

Wonder if thsi one might succeed like Titan A.E. didn't?

I thought they shut down their animation studio after Titan AE, also. Did they re-open it or is this another division?

The online trailers are pretty funny, so I'll probably go see it. It sounds like something to do over Spring Break. I'll just have to figure out whether to see it or Time Machine first.

Actually Dreamworks was working on their own "Ice Age" type of a CGI movie but it's now been pushed back to 2003 or later so that they could get Shrek 2 into production quicker. Also, I don't think Fox re-opened their animation studio - they're just distributing it for another company (almost like a Pixar/Disney relationship). It's a shame though because I really enjoyed Anastasia and loved Titan AE.

The movie looked interesting....until I figured out the plot. Several animals have to save a little kid and get him back to his home. I saw Monsters, Inc. and its the same thing. I'll pass on this one.

And A Bug`s Life and Antz were basically the same story with different packaging and a change of emphasis. Once the industry finds a winning game, it seems reluctant to change. Hence Disney`s recent obssession with churning out popular sequels and leaving quality or whether or not they should on the backburner.

I`m yet another person who thought that FOX`s animation arm folded ater Titan A.E., though.

Yes, Fox's animation studio did close... Ice Age is being done by a different animation studio, Blue Sky. They make it, Fox distributes it. Think of the Ice Age situation as similar to the relationship between Disney and Pixar, or Dreamworks and PDI... in both cases, the latter made animation somewhat autonomously, while the former put it out. Hope that clears things up.

I thought that it might be something to do with that sort of situation, but wasn`t totally sure. Thanks for clearing that up. :)

Fox owns Blue Sky studio. They bought them a couple of years ago.
