Dr. Fate seems to be the "forgotten" superhero.

I think that both "Paradise Lost" and "A Knight In The Shadows" were perfect opportunities for Dr. Fate to show up (anytime magic and/or gods become involved, Dr. Fate would be a great "bench member" for the JL to call on, in the same way that Aquaman will be a "bench member" who gets called in when something's brewing in Earth's oceans). Am I the only one who thought Dr. Fate was cool? Am I the only person who liked "The Hand of Fate" Superman episode?

If nothing else, I'd like to see Dr. Fate in Season 2, when some sort of nasty magic/god type thing comes down. :D

Any thoughts?

Dr. Fate was apparently considered, along with Green Arrow, Black Canary, and Red Tornado and others for membership. But he just doesn't seem like a team player. I agree, though. It would be cool to see him show up.

I have a feeling he'll show up next season at earliest. It's almost a given. Remember these guys are fans of JLA, and that means they know about the regulars, and Dr. Fate is one of those Justice teams icons. Besides, we didn't see much of Fate in that STAS episode (HAND OF FATE). That is more reason to show him.

I'm a big fan of ol' Doc Fate, and I'd love to see him show up, especially if they actually *gasp* remember what a big decision it was for him to continue in "Hand of Fate."

I'd actually prefer them to have the original Spectre instead, he was always an awesome character.

Howdy all,

I'd love to see Dr. Fate guest star in an episode of JL (I think he has the coolest helmet ever). They've introduced a non-trivial number of magical superheroes in the BTAS/STAS timelines. Both Zatanna and Etrigan the Demon were in BTAS. Etrigan is due up for a guest shot this season (hopefully as a rhyming demon this time), but Zatanna would be another candidate for guest-stardom in the 2nd season, since she was a key member of the Silver Age JLA, being their resident magical expert.

It was very cool--forget the name--Val Semeiks did the artwork but it was solid and had some of the absolute best characterization of Dr. Fate, Spectre (both of which were portrayed ina unique way as the supes and bats --in terms of ideology--of the 40's). I highly recommend u fans of those two pick it up. Either way--I'd love to see the oringal JSA (I know it's not happening which is dayam retarded) but still --it's a good read.

Definitely would love to see Spectre and Dr. Fate called in for a a major mystical threat.

What about Steel? He's kind of a forgotten hero as well. He hasn't been mentioned in a long time, let alone shown. Same with Zatanna.

And Val Semeiks's art was atrocious for the JSA.

Those books were the biggest waste of money I've ever invested in a very, very long time.

Well 'Smallville', I seriously doubt I'm wrong just that you and I obviously do not agree on this point seems more like it. I like you I take it am a HUGE DC Comics fan and have been reading for over some 20 years. I can certainly say that while I agree Semeiks artwork is defintely not AAA I find him to be a good standard fallback artist whose work while not great--certainly doesn't offend me (kind of like Mark Bagley, Tom Grummet, Howard Porter and Dan Jurgens). Anyways, as far as the characterization....if u have been reading comics for awhile...I'm curious what u didn't like about them. If u are referring to the normally lame and one-note characterizations of the 40's JSA then I agree--this comicbook was NOTHING like that. Here all of the characters were treated like real politicized (they were war time heroes) and culturally conservative people of the 40's. I foudn the 2-issue mini-series quite fantastic and again...for any fans looking for some great characterizations and uses of the Dr. Fate and Spectre characters...check them out.

daedalus222,

In all the stories I've read with the Golden Age Dr. Fate and Spectre, I've never seen them portrayed so bitterly at odds with one another. Maybe you read stuff I don't read, but that was NOT the way Spectre and Dr. Fate worked with one another. Kent was distant, yes, but I don't recall him ever being so irate as I recall him being in that waste of money called "DC 2000."

For long-time fans who know the difference, I would advise you pick up copies of these books to laugh at what exaggerated characters Peyer had to write to make his laughable story work. If you aren't fans of the characters though, this is the absolute worst example of the JSA characters. It was written in way to glorify the JLA and didn't care one iota for the prestige and splendor of the original super-team.

If you liked the story, fine. I'm not insulting your personal taste, but speaking as a very big fan of Golden Age characters, this was the worst interpretation I've seen in any book I've ever read.

If anyone wants to take a look at what Golden Age heroes should be, read THE GOLDEN AGE by James Robinson, and read the STARMAN series, which features appearances by various Golden Age characters.

If you want a blasphemous piece of JSA bashing propaganda, then DC 2000 is the book for you.

I second that. I love Doctor Fate, he is so cool. I love the way that he appears with the ankh behind him. It would be great if they explored his background. It would be cool to see some of the Lords of Order and Lords of Chaos. It would be cool to have Karkull back, he was too easily defeated.
