View Full Version : Futurama pre-empted tomorrow

Okay, this doesn't even make sense anymore.

Futurama was pre-empted at 7 pm, so that FOX could air a second King of the Hill episode, alongside two Simpsons episodes. WHAT?! WHAT IS THE POINT OF THAT?!

"Where Buggalos Roam" will still air on March 3rd.

I was planning on watching Futurama while taping Justice League to watch afterward. Guess I'll just be watching JL instead.

As things stand Futurama is the only show on Fox that I even make an effort to catch anymore. Thank you Fox for making my viewing decisions just that much easier.

Maybe Fox wanted to prove that their current lineup could indeed be worse.

Sounds like a fair trade. At least it isn't The Glutton Bowl

The Thursday airing is a rerun though. Not a new episode.

I would guess i have seen 75% of KOTH episodes, 75% Futurama episodes, and 75% Family Guy episodes, so at least one of the four shows on Thursday I probably haven't seen.

Thursday also sees the return of new Friends episodes and the premiere of Survivor: Marquesas. I'm gonna be watching the hell out of one and taping the other. Futurama comes later in the night, luckily.

Yup. It's the Valentine's Day episode where Fry's body is broken and his head is sewn onto Amy's body. Good episode, but hardly a replacement for a new one.

I don't care what Fox does anymore, they screw with their good shows so much. I will be tuned to Cartoon Network tonight anyway, since I missed JL last Monday and they are having the Chuck Jones tribute tonight, then AS.

The main reason why some of FOX's animatied shows aren't finding an audience is becuase they are jerking us around like this. I bet that during FOX's line-up tonight, they won't even mention that FUTURAMA will have a special Thursday airing. But they will plug repeatedly that there will be an extra horrid Simpsons at 9pm.

Pick up the new issue of Cinescape--there are two articles about Futurama in it. One is an interview with Matt Groening and the other is about Futurama's programming woes and what's left for the series.

Fry, we hardly knew ya...

*$#@?! Fox REALLY needs to try, oh I don't know, actually PROMOTING the show for once. You'd think they'd try to keep Matt Groening, creator of Fox's biggest cash cow, happy...

Isn't the JL ep tonight brand-new?
Isn't there a Batman on?
two King of the Hills?
two Simpsons?
Chuck Jones tribute? Anything running un-edited?
Adult Swim too?
I can't choose!!!!!!!!!!!!

Arrgh, I just remembered Invader Zim is on! Oh well, I have Nicklodean West anyway, I'll just do some work between now and 4.

I seriously doubt it. CN running something unPC during a high profile event? Not going to happen.

I will be watching it, though.

Can I find this online? Sadly, where I used to buy Cinescape stopped carrying it all of a sudden... :(

I couldn't find it online. :(

It's carried in most bookstores around here, such as Barnes & Noble...It has a big picture of Bender so it's hard to miss if you keep your eyes open.

Good luck.

Joe, wasn't War Time cartoons a high-profile event?

FOX wonders why shows like Futurama (and my favorite TV show, the X-Files) are doing bad in the ratings. Jeez, when you don't start the season til mid-November, WHAT THE HELL DO YOU EXPECT?!?!?!?!? While the competition is showing their shows every week, shows that get ratings because of that consistency, and you screw around with your entire Sunday lineup except for the 8:00-9:00 hour every single week, how the hell do you expect your shows to get ratings!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

The stupidity of this network astounds me everyday.

Mmm...yes, but I believe that the cartoons included in the special could only have offended Nazis. There was a very, very brief, relatively inoffensive Japanese caricature in Scrap Happy Daffy (during Daffy's song, who says "Freedom foe!"), and some mention of them in the clips, but that was it. IMO it was rare stuff but not really unPC.

And the point of the whole special was that it would have rare material. This is a different case.

This is some what sorta off topic, but when does Fox's contract with the NFL expire? I cannot wait until some other network gets the rights to the games, so they stop preempting their Sunday night programming.

I can't wait til they get the World Series off to some other station. Every year it pushes back the premeires to November. I suppose it doesn't really matter that much now though since the X-Files will be gone next season, much in part because of FOX's continuous botching of the schedule.

I thought it had just as much, if not more, to do with the fact that the two stars of the show have finally abandoned ship? I know it could go on with those other two agents, but then it would not be the X Files. I say give them their own show, if required, but let the X Files go.

Yeah, the abscense of Mulder is the biggest reason its tanking in the ratings, although this 'New Generation' X-Files thing never got a chance. Season didn't start til halfway through November, the premeire was pushed back by about 20 minutes because of a football game, the show was pre-empted every other week until this February so they could play various crap from other nights on the schedule, then they cancel the show for a whole month so they can air the Bernie Mac show  We can't really know if this Next-Gen thing would have ever taken off since it never really got a fair chance. I dunno, the show's nothing without Mulder, but atleast the stand alone episodes this season have been excellent, all 4 or 5 of them that have actually aired.

X-Files will be replaced with Firefly next year, which I think is an iffy move. I really think that FOX should make Sunday an all comedy line-up. FOX Sunday used to be a great night, used to be FOX's night, and now it's limping along pathetically.

Forget Firefly! I would leave the six pm slot open (this is for central time) and I would start the prime time programming at 6:30 with King of the Hill. Leave the 6:00 slot open for a mid season replacement, but for the first half of the season, count on football eating up that time slot. Simpsons and Malcom are still in their hour, and then Futurama starts at 8:00 pm, in X Files previous slot. I am sure they could come up with a new show for the 8:30 slot. I doubt 24 will be on next season, so Firefly could go to Tuesday nights.
