I was reading a webiste earlier about which actor in hollywood would play a good Bruce Wayne as an old man in a live-action Batman Beyond movie. Most people narrowed down their opinions to either Clint Eastwood or Paul Newman. I personally though Newman would play the part better, he seems like the kind of actor that can play serious and cynical. Clint Eastwood is too soft spoken I think for the role. What does everyone else think?

To me Clint Eastwood does not equal the older Bruce Wayne of Batman Beyond, neither does Paul Newman. And Paul Newman is probably the better choice for the role out of the two.
To be honest I don't really know who could pull off the role.

Since I really like Clint Eastwood I would have to say him.

There are many great actors who could pull off the role, such as Clint Eastwood and Jack Palance, but they are unfortunately too well-known. The character already has an identity, which would conflict with the identity of the actor. This is why relatively unknown actors are useful when casting movies based on already established works. They're like empty vessels. The only exception in this case is Kevin Conroy, because he is Batman. And maybe if we wait long enough, he could tackle it.

Didn't Alex Ross once say that he'd cast Gregory Peck in the role of Bruce Wayne for his Kingdom Come story? I think any Batman that worked for Ross's Kingdom Come would work for this.

i think anthony hopkins would do better than both of them. even though he had a similar role in Mask of Zorro. or maybe someone like sean connery, with no accent. what about james garner.

I dunno, James Garner seems a little too upbeat, anthony hopkins might work though. He did do a similar role in zorro. I can't see clint eastwood in the role at all though.

I'd say Chuck Heston or Kirk Douglas, either one would bring a needed edge to the character.
