View Full Version : Cartoon Network: Pay homage to Chuck Jones!
I just thought I'd make an additional thread, as I want to direct this to anyone from CN. I'm sad about Chuck passing on, we alll are. I really do hope that CN pays a tribute to him. He's a legend and without him networks like CN would have never existed. He's paved the way for animation today. It's sad what's happened to animation. There's still some bright spots, but it's not the same as it once was. I hope CN does something to honor this great man. Thank you Chuck, and may you rest in peace.
Gone, but not forgotten

I think that they have to. Even if they didn't want to, they'd feel like they had to. Some people here are calling for a marathon this weekend, but I'd rather see one next weekend. The people at CN probably won't find out about it until tomorrow and won't have enough time to throw something appropriate together for this weekend. IMO it would be very fitting for them to run a marathon of his greatest cartoons next weekend though.

How about a documentary too? I mean, sure it would be live action, but it would be fitting.

And they better demand the best prints Warner's archive has.

I think CN should air every cartoon Jones directed in a marathon.
Including the ones he animated and also the later ones he produced.

Jones has enough devotees outside the cartoon fandom world -- Speilberg, Lucas -- and I even saw some postings this morning on a few regular news and politics sites so that Cartoon Network might actually pay attention and do a decent tribute, though the cynic in me can picture some ad running next week saying "To honor the memory of Chuck Jones, Cartoon Network presents a full weekend of Ed, Edd and Eddy this Saturday and Sunday."
And, sadly, I'd be willing to bet if you mentioned the name of Chuck Jones to some of the top honchos at AOL Time Warner, they would probably think not of the animation director, but the former public relations guy for Donald Trump's ex-wife Marla Maples who was arrested for stealing ladies shoes and made all the NYC newspaper gossip columns (I am not making this up) because of his foot fetish.

There's no doubt that CN will do a tribute to Chuck Jones.

If Cartoon Network does not do a tribute of some kind to Chuck Jones, I will be disappointed with them.
I still think they might not, because giving up any showings of cartoon cartoons would be more than they could handle. :(

I have seen a commercial on CN in his memorial.

UGH! I know what you mean! all AOL can talk abut is the grammies and I do NOT like the cartoon cartoons too much no nuances like a sigh like the Grinch or a sidelong glance like Bugs Bunny did *sigh* no good cartoons will ever be made again so sad so sad
