i hate top cow, but one day my friend told i had to read this new comic(this was a while ago). he said is on top cow but its kinda lik jla. so i said sure. and i actually did like it. It did not have all the pointless nudity you find in top cow and vertigo. i would suggest everybody read this.

Rising Stars, in terms of story-telling (writing, art, and all-around how it looks visually) is the finest comic book out there. It takes all the elements you would want in a story, gives you an amazing art team to tell it, and spits it out at a mere $2.50 (really low for anything under the IMAGE banner).
Now if only the TPB would ship so I can catch up on my reading...!

Hehehehe. I had the fortune of picking up the first issue when it came out, and read it along the way - so I don't have to wait for the trade! Yay! ;)

Actually, if you buy the trades, you only save 5 cents off cover price. Believe me, I checked. It's $2.50 an issue, and the trades (which collect 8 issues) are $19.95.

Without giving too much away:
The idea behind RISING STARS is an old one. The execution is fresh. A meteor crashed into the small town of.....(crap, can't think of the name of the town at the moment, but anyway...). The meteor gives powers to the 113 kids who were in the womb at the time (no matter how far along). The maxi-series (yes, maxi-series. It ends with issue 24) follows those 113 people, and how they each go through life.
Why is it cool? It's very real-world. You could actually imagine that this is how the world would react if such a thing came about.
Beyond that, I ain't saying anymore, besides that you should DEFINITELY buy it. It'll be the best $20 you'll ever spend. The only reason there is not to buy it is that it'll make you spend another $2.50 a month (if the book ever ships again...). But for a comic this good, it's worth it.
