Last time: The battle between Soi Fong and Yoruchi continued!

Today: Soi Fong and Yoruchi fight continues but.. why does Soi Fong dislike Yoruchi so much? Oh and Ichigo continues to battle with Byakuya..

I'm getting real sick at how we get these new characters and get all this backstory that takes time to progress the real story. I wanna see this fight ends, I wanna that fight between the captains, and most importantly I WANNA SEE ICHIGO's FIGHT WITH BYAKURA!

I don't care for Soi Fon, so her past or secret loves doesn't really interest me much. As for Byakuya- he can talk all he wants, I do love his voice. I enjoy the way Bosch says Japanese words, too. But really Byakuya is quite pretty. Him and his cherry blossoms.

Well, at least the flashbackstory didn't take up the whole episode. And *gasps* we actually see Ichigo and Byakuya fight each other for a little bit.... kinda. If you consider the talking part of the fight. Looks like we get more of it in the next episode as well. Hopefully.

Deep down though, I think it's more of a close sisterly bond. Soi Fon looks up to Yoruichi so much, and thought that she was trusted, then Yoruichi up and runs off in the middle of the night. How would you feel if your sister/hero did that to you? Pretty bad. :/

I don't like this episode as far as action goes, but I do like it for the backstory.

Yoruichi & Soi Fong's catfight is so awesome:D with their combat fighting skills.

Interesting flashback backstory with the two girls since Soi Fong used to look up to Yoruichi before her disappearance.

Ichigo vs. Byakuya is the most awesome fight ever:anime: which I root for Ichigo to crush that coldhearted corrupt monster which I love Ichigo's "I going to crush you" quote as well.

Byakuya was shocked for the first time at Ichigo's power which was funny.

Ikkaku & Ida's conservation part was hilarious, they're so funny.

Anyway, even with all the talking and backstory and shortend Inchigo fight, this episode was interesting. Although the Soi Fone fight ended very badly, since she just collapsed in a heap of emotional distress. Maybe she was tired of the flashbacks as well.

As for the Inchigo fight, I liked the (oh so brief) Ichigo ownage, but still, I have a feeling that we will see the old man Yama fight first next week. But I did like Ichigo finally explaining some of what they skipped when Ichigo powered up.

Hopefully next week we see more of the good guys own the bad.....or at least more interesting backstory...

I am getting so sick of almost EVERY fight in this show ending with: "uurggh! I am defeated! Now we will be best friends forever for no apparent reason!" Seriously, this is getting old, like 90% of the characters that like Ichigo are someone that was an enemy that he or his group beatdown at one time!

Normally I like the 'enemy-turns-to-the-good-team-to-help-them-beat-even-more-evil-enemy, type scenarios', ala Vegeta... but its getting to be kind of overkill in Bleach, I hope it's not like that for the entire damn series, but it seems like its going to be :sweat:

Well, I think it works within the setup of the Soul Society Arc because most of the Soul Reapers are essentially good people, just part of very beurocratic, authoritarian, and possibly corrupt government. So far Gin and Mayuri seem to be the only full fledged villains in this arc, with the rest of our heroes' opponents being misguided good guys who change sides when they realize the unjustness of Rukia's execution (or, in the case of Squad 11, realize that Ichigo and Co. make Soul Society a lot more interesting).

For those complaining about the flashbacks, talking, etc...I'm guessing you all don't watch Naruto. What we've seen in Bleach is NOTHING compared to the sheer hell that was having to watch the last several episodes of the Sasuke retrieval arc. Flashbacks upon flashbacks, flashbacks within flashbacks, looooong internal monologues over looooong still panning shots, the same lines said over and over ("you are my friend!", "I made a promise!", etc), all surrounding basically 1 really well animated fight episode.

Bleach is a breeze compared to that experience. Also Soi Fon's hot so I don't mind her backstory. I like her cool hairbraids thingies.

Ackar's right on the money. Based on the story and Soi Fon's anger towards Yourouchi and even her confession at the end she had no idea on why Youruchi left or why she couldn't tell her what made her leave. So obviously she's in the dark as of why.

I mean even I don't really know why yet and I watched ahead.

So it's more "why did you leave" anger then "why did you have to go with him?" anger. Speaking of that...

Espically since in later Shinigami golden we actually see Soi Fon showing signs of crushing on Yourouchi, espically the latest one that just aired in Japan.

You know, I admitt this one made me feel sort of bad for Soi Fon. Okay yeah she was a pretty non-personality hardass until the actual fight with Yorouchi, but you sort of see why here. After having such a close connected relationship with Yorouchi in the past (that's right folks: Chizuru isn't the only lesbian in Bleach it seems. I mean really when you say stuff like "I would do anything for you" and "I worshipped you like a goddess" and having been so easily cheered up with your hair being played with it goes beyond just friendship and companions) and then having the idea of them being together forever (or however long Shingami live for anyway) taken away by Yourouchi just leaving without explaining anything. Really that is kind of cold; I mean I'm sure at some point we'll learn the reason behind it but leaving someone who cared so much about you without saying anything would turn anyone bitter. Though in truth I also wish they could of focused more on the fight and just show Yorouchi outclassing Soi Fon more. Yeah it's obvious who was stronger this time around but actually seeing more of it would of been nice. Oh well; at least this was a flashback that actually got me to care about a more unsympathetic character more so it did it's job well in that field. Kind of an anticlimatic end though with Yorouchi just winning through the powerup without really damaging Soi Fon or really having to put up too much of a fight though.

On the other hand besides Soi/Youruchi connections we also finally see what happened between Iba and Ikkaku who apparently got drunk and kept brawling to see who'd get more sake then actually fought. Well I guess it at least tells us about they're characters more though kind of a weird way to take that battle. Sort of funny though seeing them blather together. And finally at the end we got to Ichigo vs Byauka again. Pretty much Ichigo unleashing his Howling Moon Fang (transcribed name) of sword energy blast and pressing Byakuka to unleash his Bankai to crush him with everything he has or something. Guess we'll see if he will or will stall to do it next time but at least seeing Byakuka get taken down a peg was sort of nice. Overall pretty good ep though in the ending part of the ep they still spend so much time on talking then fighting that it kind of gets annoying.

Y'know,the Soi Fon/Yoruichi fight/flashback seemed less drawn out in the manga....Personally,I've always seen Soi Fon's love of Yoruichi as hero/idol worship rather than romantic love,but I guess it could be seen either way...

I agree completely. I mean, the way this fight ended was just lame. I wanted Soi Fon to get her ass kicked. I didn't want her to end the fight by crying! What kind of a freakin' ending to a fight is that?

Also, I'm sick of these pointless backstorys. I mean, prior to this episode the only thing I knew about Soi Fon was that she was a ***** who yells at her lieutenants. I didn't even know her name until a few episodes ago. Why the hell would you give a character like that a backstory? I mean, that's worse than giving Zaku a backstory in Naruto. At least in that episode we got to see Shino make Zaku's arms explode. But, here, ugh...I really wanted Soi Fon to get the crap beaten out of her. But, this episode just sucked. Please, please, tell me the old man doesn't get a flashback.

As I said last year, even after 100+ episodes this is still an exposition/flashback heavy series. They're not going to lighten up on fleshing out the secondary/tertiary characters anytime soon.

Interesting or not (which is debatable), he got FOUR straight episodes, which themselves had flashbacks within them. Soi Fon had half an episode, and it was really probably meant as more of a way to show Yoruichi's past than to truly flesh-out Soi Fon. And who cares if she's flat? Do you hold that against Rukia?

What's funny about that is that if CN was still doing their one new Naruto a week back then, we would have had a full month of flashbacks
