View Full Version : Who should have been the Green Lantern in the JLA series?

I think that it should have been Hal Jordan. He was a cool Green Lantern, plus you could toss in the destruction of Coast city. That would be cool, and then you could have the whole Parralex thing, and him sacrificing himself to save the sun. This would all happen at like the final episode of season 2 or 3. Heck, you could even toss in the Spectre after all is said and done.

Anyhow, who do you think would be the best GL, and if you think they where right in making GL Stewart you could say that as well.

Oh, definately Kyle. I'm not a follower of the series, but I love the whole concept of an artist wearing a power ring that 'shapes' his thoughts. The main hang-up I have always had with Green Lantern was the way he used his ring: making giant boxing gloves or bats or some other mundane, unoriginal object while fighting. Yet when Kyle uses it, it's to it's full potential. (my personal favorite is from JLA where he and Flash are traveling together and Kyle forms a private jet complete with 'healthy' stewardess to serve them :D ) As for the whole 'Parallax' plot, that could still happen. If they work it in that Stewart isn't the 'original' Green Lantern you could still have Hal show up as Parallax and go through that whole scenerio. The sad thing is, though, they HAD to use Stewart as Green Lantern because, unfortunately, there aren't that many African American superheroes in the DC universe. But at least they didn't insult the populaces intelligence like they did with Superfriends. I mean, 'Black Vulcan' just because he's black? That's right up there with Black Panther, Black Goliath and Black Spider. But I guess that's another topic for another time...

He's pretty cool actually.

I was more or less hoping to see Hal developed as a part of the main team and then turned into a bad guy.

i think stewart's GL was a good choice. it'll be intresting as to how they'll develope his character, especially for me since i know very little about him... of course, they could've thrown black lightning in some guest spots. i've seen a pic bruce timm did with him in a line up of backup JLA members. he'd be pretty cool...

Assuming that they're using the younger Flash from the Superman cartoon, they've already covered the "young brash hero" thing.

Jon Stewart does make it interesting.

Of course, I remain disappointed that, when the decision was made for a new GL in the comics and they could have done ANYTHING with the new character, they chose to merely do a "cooler" version of Stern's Starman (also a white male artist).

Are you hoping they can get it right this time? Maybe this time Hal won't go bad in the span of two panels. They really needed to spend a year developing his descent into madness rather than make it into the awful mess it was just to get the new GL by #50. That way, I may have actually bought into it, rather than finding it all so contrived and comical.

I go with Kyle Rayner because his imagination is so big that every shape he creates is spectacular.

Yeah that's what I'm talking about, develop him for a year or 2, with subtle hints at his unstability, and then have Coast city's destruction be the fina nail to tip him over to the dark side.

That a great Idea Joey. That would be very cool to see. I would actually pay to watch that whole idea unfold into an animated series.

Oh, yeah! Just think...they could have the whole 'Justice League Anartctica' crowd come in and save the day sometime. Sorta like the 'Legion of Substitute Heroes'. It'd be hilarious!

"Why steel wool?"
"Because a mouse can't chew through it. Unless of course it's a wharf rat."
"IT IS NOT A WHARF RAT!"
