i just rewatched this ep. i always liked it, but one thing always bugged me about it. How did fugget expect mayor hill to get crushed by the hands on the clock tower?? um, am i mistaken or do the hands of clocks not touch, but one's infront of the other. plus, in that scene if you look at the middle of the clock where the hands are attached to, you can see that one hand is in front of the other. it was a cool idea, but maybe they should have had fugget say he altered the clock or something just so it would actually be possible. any thoughts?

Yeah.

I'd love to hear a commentary from the producers/directors/etc. on what they thought when they came to that part. Especially since they didn't even make much of an attempt to disguise the fact that one hand sweeps past another.

I haven't seen the episode in a long long time, but I remember thinking that when I originally saw it.

I just figured that the one hand would sweep past, crush Mayor Hill's right arm and leg, then snap the rope allowing Hill to fall to his death. Either way it would hurt a lot.

Um, my shot in the dark, iether the crush his arm thing, or he would slip off?

That always bugged me, too. He won't be crushed completely, but I figured part of his body, would, then after the ropes are broken he'd fall to his death Ya gotta admit - a real cheesey set up that's actually executed nicely.

I think that the hands of the clock would pass by each other, and would slice off any part of Mayor Hill's body that was overhanging on HIS hand of the clock on that side.

:) I like it when things are split in two. Hehe. :)

PS - The Clock King is definately not the coolest villain out there, but that episode was definately brilliant - I love those clocktower action sequences.

Yes, that bugged me but not as much as this.

Even though the Clock King was extremely punctual and could time things, that does NOT mean that he has the strength, speed, and agility to overcome something.

Examples: He dives off the end of the building and lands feet-first on a train he knew was coming. As the train speeds off, he's standing upright without so much as sliding off or even losing his balance. Sorry... I know he's great with schedules, but I didn't know he was a gymnast, too.

Batman throws a punch, the CK ducks saying he knows exactly how long it takes for Batman to throw a punch. I can calculate how long it takes my coffee mug to fall from the coffee table to my floor, but that doesn't mean I'm agile enough to catch the mug before it hits. Batman has martial arts training; CK does NOT. CK shouldn't be fast enough to duck Batman's punch.

It's like the episode of Seinfeld where George develops super intelligence and is able to effortlessly hit home runs out of Yankee stadium. Tempus' situation is similar. While it may be impossible to stand perfectly straight on top of a moving train, he may have come up with an effective balancing technique. His other abilities may have similar explanations.
