Wow, this was one of the worst things I've had to watch in recent memory. I think the only one worse I can think of was Ratatoing.

I really can't wait until he finally gets out of office. At this point, noy so much what he did to the country, but I want to hear NEW jokes for a change. At least Clinton jokes were nonstop riots back in the day (and even now). But yeah, he's rich, incompitant, and he screwed up quite a bit. We get it. no need to reitterate it with repetive jokes.

I agree with you there. Not so much about the jokes, even though I do understand that they're getting pretty darn old, but mostly what has happened to the country and what role in played in it. It honestly make me sick, no offense to those supporting him and all. Of course, it isn't like we'll be getting much of a better deal most likely in the fall, regardless of who wins the election. But that's a completely different story and belongs in a different thread.

Now that I got that mini-rant out of my system, I honestly haven't seen this show before and my lack of enjoyment for seeing tired jokes centering around a political figure that I just cannot agree with does not make me want to check it out. Based on the article alone, it sounds like hearing one of his own talks would be funnier and I believe that was mentioned in there as well. When you think about it, that's just really sad and pathetic.

They should have just bought back "That's My Bush!" for another season. Mostly because instead of going "LOL Politics" Matt and Trey were trying to send up sitcoms as well.

That and the theme song was a lot catchier.

Personally, I'm not a fan of any president, Democrat or Republican past JFK. Maybe even FDR. That said, I'd kill to see Regan jokes again. Betcha when Bush passes on, anything dealing with him will be handled with kid gloves too.

Yeah, a Regan Joke, or a H.W. Bush joke, or even a Grover Cleveland joke. Anythings funnier than restating what happened with a snarky undertone to it.

Why where Clinton jokes funny? because Clinton was a fun guy and fun to make fun of. Oh, he had blunders, but his biggest fault was cheating with an intern (something I forgive. he's married to Hillary after all- see that one was funny!) But you could laugh at him. Bush jokes come from a place of anger. People are angry at him. If you make jokes out of anger, there's no substance and fun involved.

Plus with Bush, the jokes are reptitive. Cheney too. Bush is an idiot, Cheney is a sketchy character. We get the point. There are no levels past that. Plus, making fun of him isn't going to make him resign, ala Richard Nixon.

Nixon. Another good one. You can still make fun of Nixon and get a laugh. look at Futurama.

With Clinton, you got jokes that laughed at him, everything from him being a playboy to his weight to his book promos.

Bush jokes are mad at him. Really mad. Whether or not that's appropriate isn't a topic for this forum, but most jokes about Bush have a certain venom that jokes about Reagan and Clinton don't.

Oh I don't know, I can recall a pretty funny Bush joke on Family Guy:

Brian: Mr. President, there's been a disaster in New Orleans!
Bush: Go away! I'm readin' Superfudge!
Brian: You've got to come down and deal with this!

Obviously it's got some venom due to the Katrina debacle and all, but the way it was executed, with Bush quickly and sheepishly saying "Don't make me do stuff." was hilarious.

As for Lil' Bush, haven't seen it, but I think I've seen random commercials for it. Wasn't this animated in Flash?

I may hate Bush as much as the next guy, but enough's enough. I can't believe in this era of Obama & Hiliary, pot-shotting Bush is still considered entertaining to enough people to warrant a second season. I gave up on laughing at his stupidity in '06.

One of the shortcomings with political humor is that it has a shelf life. And once it expires, it becomes not so much unfunny as just incomprehensible as the subject of the humor recedes into history. Clinton jokes are still funny because most people remember his presidency (that, and the fact that he won't go away). Jokes about Gerald Ford or LBJ are more likely to elicit confusion that laughter in a large portion of the audience.

I collect old radio shows, and one of the most popular radio comedians of the '30's and '40's was Fred Allen. He was primarily a political satirist, and although he had a marvelous facility for wordplay, a lot of his material centered around people like FDR, Fiorello LaGuardia and countless other people who have become footnotes in history. It's a classic case of "you hadda be there"; it's impossible to "get" the jokes without knowing the historical framework on which they were built. I think that why guys like Jack Benny, Burns & Allen, and Abbott & Costello are still remembered today, while Allen is largely forgotten.

If you're tired of the Bush-bashing and want fresh material, don't vote for Obama, because it looks like nobody's allowed to criticize him, much less mock him.

Obama...Clinton...McCain...The good news is: two of them will not be our next President.

The second season, from the previews at least, looks leaps and bounds better then the first season did. Maybe that is hinting towards tighter scripting too (although Kevin Federline is going to be in it voicing a political figure... :/ )?

Criticism, I've heard. But you can't make fun of him for 2 reasons. he really hasn't done anything yet, and he's just not that interresting from a comic point of view. The people around him are far more interresting and satire worth (Oprah for example). Worst of all, he's not boring enough to pull John Kerry or Al Gore type jokes. It reminds me of something they said in the ill fated Studio 60 show... "I'll make fun of Democrats when they actually DO something." That seems to be the main reason for the venom towards the other side. I'd love to have seen someone make fun of the Dems for not having an ounce of gumption, even when they had control of the Congress. So far I've seen more jokes about Liberal causes, and liberal people than liberal politicians.

That's My Bush ended because it cost too much to produce. Between prodcution costs for a live action show, the show's stars {forget his name, but the man playing Dubya was a fairly well known actor), and the obviously rising cost of Trey and Matt due to South Park's popularity, TMB was just too expensive to keep going.

Honestly, I don't know why they even bother with these types of shows, particularly now when Bush is fading into the background. Every damn president is hated for something or other, but really, will it all matter in the end? Life will move on, a new president will be considered the worst ever, and hate toward the Bushes or Clintons or Caters, etc. will be but a funny memory. Sadly, these kind of shows won't.

Er, there were plenty of jokes stemming from anger for Clinton. Cheating on an intern wasn't his "biggest fault" by a long shot, it's just the one he's best remembered for. All the same, I did not find the venomous jokes toward Clinton funny, and it's the same deal with Bush. The more light-hearted ones are always best (Pinky & the Brain was always great at this style toward Clinton.)

He didn't exactly take a step up with Monica, though. Quoth the Bob & Tom Show when JFK was being interviewed in Heaven, cleaned up for the readers:

"I was doing Marilyn Monroe during the bay of Pigs. Clinton's just DOING pigs."

But look at the bright side, they can't POSSIBLY renew this show for a third season, considering Bush will be out of office by the time a 3rd season could be ready.

It's hand-drawn by Bulgarians (well known as an animation outsourcing country, and it shows in Lil' Bush), and composited in Flash. Or something. The commentary tracks on the DVD are boring as hell, too.

And I need to remind people that political discussion is NOT permitted on the forums. To an extent, a show like Lil' Bush is problematic because it is political humor (or at least, it tries to be on both accounts), but this is NOT the place for a discussion about how much you love or hate the Bush administration. I tried to minimize my feelings about Bush 2 in my review, but felt I needed to bring it up because I'm exactly the sort of person who should be laughing my head off at it and I'm not.
