It's from the co-creator of Macross, Shoji Kawamori. Satelight animated this 26 episode series and composer Yoko Kanno does the soundtrack. FUNimation is releasing the first 13 episodes on March 11th.

I saw the trailer for this and it look interesting. I'll have to see the first episode later in order to determine if I still feel the same way.

Wow, thats a lot of CG. Some of it ugly too.

Doesn't look like a bad series though.

that was very cool, the robot looked amazing.

To my realization it becomes a very poor rip-off of Evangelion, but gaaaaaaaaaaaw, the opening song is so addicting....

AI was pimping Aquarion this month so my curiosity was piqued. The first episode was interesting. It wasn't horrible but not great either. Intriguing though. I might have to check out the rest at some point.

I adore the soundtrack of Aquarion. My favorite is the english/gospel version of the opening song that they use in the final episode.

I kinda liked the series although I think at times too much of the eco-friendly overkill message is done by Shoji Kawamori although nothing to extent of what he did in Arjuna.

Well, from it's subbed version. It looks really promising. Too bad I don't have flash 9, otherwise I'd gladly watch this first episode.

I'll just get it when it releases to DVD. Been a while since I saw a docking mecha anime (where mechas combine to form one powerful fighting humanoid). From it's previous; Mobile Suit V Gundam & Gundam SEED & SEED: Destiny.

I hate double takes. It was looking like Getter Robo, then it starts to resemble a dreaded EVA clone.

Well, to each our own :). Not everyone's gonna like the same genre. For me particularly, I'm kinda interested in seeing this whole series.

I don't see the resemblence to Getter Robo.

At all.

As for the trailer itself. FUNimation seems to have really good actors for this one. Which one poster posted several promos of the anime on Youtube.

The premise with the robot I mean.

Three jets turn into robots, which have different configurations. Just like Getter 1, Getter 2, and Getter 3.

Oh I right, I guess that is kinda like Getter.

But not a cool:sweat:

The animation had some really nice spots, but this episode felt like they were trying to cram in as many cliche's as possible: too many characters introduced, far too much exposition- in the end so many elements were introduced that none of them stood out or had any sort of dramatic impact. Not good for a premiere episode. It's like Escaflowne (Yoko Kanno! Kawamori designs, Winged-boy-of-Atlantis, Synchronization), but all gone horribly wrong. I honestly couldn't tell half the time if I was watching a parody.

I would be more forgiving if it wasn't for the outright sex during the merging. There was simply no need to have that hit-you-over-the-head robot-human orgy. Did the creators of this show truly think it's necessary for me to hear orgasmic groaning? Come on.

I really hope this doesn't set a precedent for future shows' transformation sequences.

Eleven years before the start of the series, a disaster only referred to as the "Great Catastrophe" destroyed significant parts of the world and killed off many of its inhabitants. Along with that disaster came the appearance of the "Shadow Angels", a winged humanoid species, which seems to have been in slumber for twelve thousand years. These beings harvest the humans on Earth, which they call the "wingless ones", like cattle, as to extract their prana (life force) from them, which serves as energy and nutrition to the Shadow Angels.

Thats sounds so like eva.

I watch this anyway though since its suppose to be a tribute to old robot shows so you can expect tons of cliches.

Its what eva was missing all along. Seriously, I'm going to watch this just to get a laugh at all the cliches. And whats wrong with that?

I really hope this doesn't set a precedent for future shows' transformation sequences.

I predict all magical girl shows will no be more ... err... exciting.

The first episode wasn't bad. It's definitely a mix of various anime, but that doesn't bother me. A Yoko Kanno soundtrack can make even the worst anime great.:D I enjoyed the first episode enough to buy the series. The music really grabbed me, and it's always good to hear familar voices throughout FUNimation anime. I can't wait for Tuesday now. Witchblade Volume Five of Six, Speed Grapher: The Complete Collection Director's Cut, and Aquarion Season One Part One are all on my purchase list.
