If this thread is inappropriate, I'm sorry. But please read the full post first before making any decisions.
Here at TZ and many other forums on the net, people always post questions about their cartoon crush and what character they thought and still think is cute. But, is this ok to do? No one really questions these types of things. Take Starfire from Teen Titans as an example, alot of older fans talk about how she's cute and sexy. Let's not forget how people make porn pics of them online, sometimes I'm afraid to search for a picture of my favorite character because I might see them in an inappropriate manner. Is it ok to fantasize or not?

Unless you're a teen or close to it . . . yes, it's wrong

Cartoon porn...well, I never fantasize about them. But sadly, I do look at those porn pics. :(

My 2 cents:
IMHO, There's nothing wrong with having crushes on cartoon characters...provided you always keep in mind that they're just that: cartoon characters. It only becomes a problem if/when the crusher starts to believe that he/she actually has a chance of cohabitating with said drawings or when it crosses over into perverse stuff like porn, stalking or molestation of real life persons because they remind you of your cartoon dreamboats, which could get you into trouble and/or lead to jail time. It's like playing World of Warcraft: as long as you don't allow the line between fantasy and reality to become blurred and it doesn't start to affect your daily life in a negative way, I personally don't see the harm.

For the record . . . I'm more angry than "turned on" when I see the characters in those types of poses or distorted in some way. I don't see why an "improvement" in the chest area makes a feminine character more appealing.
I have crushed on underage animated characters in the past . . . when I was 10-16 myself. Most people outgrow it at some point. Some people never do.

As long as you're not harming real children it's okay.

Um, how can you stalk or molest a character who doesn't exist (unless you're getting into the concept of soulbonding, which makes things a lot more complicated)?

I'm talking about someone going after a real person because they remind them of the object of their animated affections. Having 'relations' with a drawing isn't physically possible; you'd tear the paper in the process. ;)

I'm not into "toon porn" myself, but since plenty of people are attracted to fictional characters, I don't see how it's any different if the characters are drawn rather than being played by actors/actresses. Frankly, I don't see how being attracted to cartoon kids is in any way morally inferior to being attracted to cartoon animals. Now that's weird, IMHO.
To reiterate what's been said here earlier, fantasizing about cartoon kids is better to me than going out and coming on to real children. It's fine if that's what you're into, just as long as no one gets hurt.

Everything that needs to be said has been said.
Being attracted to fictional characters is considered wierd, regardless of age, or species. So long as you don't obsessed over it or cause harm or make anyone else feel uncomfortable, it's okay.
Also, the less people know about it, the better.

Here's a point to ponder: is fantasizing about a cartoon character significantly worse than fantasizing about an actress or model? Our internalized image of our sex symbols makes them idealized fantasy figures that probably have no more relation to the actual person than a cartoon character has to a real woman. Nobody who fantasizes about Angelina Jolie really thinks about her having skin blemishes, annoying personal tics, body hair, body odor, mood swings, or a meunstral cycle (unless you are really into that stuff), but she surely has all of them.
And if you fantasize about a cartoon character, are you thinking about a drawing, or are you conjuring a mental image of a "real" girl that has all of the toon's characteristics? I suspect the latter in more common.

IMO I think that it is wrong to think that a thing that is created when a voice hits a ink and digital paint drawing is "sexy" or "hot". I guess its okay to think that they are cute or good-looking but drawing porn pictures about them is taking it way too far.

Yes,if it's an obsession.

If it's just attractiveness (and not, like, total obsession, thinking they're real, wanting to marry them, etc) then there's no problem with it... provided it's not some Lolita-complex show from Japan like Card Captor Sakura or something. If the characters are at least teenagers (Teen Titans, Totally Spies, X-Men, etc) then I see no problem with finding them attractive.

I never put much thought into it, but I suppose the crushes on an underage character stems from how they're often behaving more like an older age group than as kids/teens.

It's not that this isn't an interesting moral question and everything, but considering the adults-only implications and the fact that this is a family board, I'm afraid any discussion of it will have to take place elsewhere.
