View Full Version : View the awesome "Constant Payne" pilot online!
Click here (http://homepage.mac.com/cancerous/iMovieTheater1.html) to download the "Constant Payne" pilot. It was originally picked up by Nickelodeon, but was cancelled after the whole WGA fiasco. The animation style has definite anime influences. I'm praying that Cartoon Network picks it up, although, that's probably doubtful.

Yeah, I know, right BB2001? To think Nickelodeon picked up the show in the first place. I mean, it's too cool for Nickelodeon.

Lol, I was in shock myself. I was thinking (this doesn't seem like a nick show). Pardon my ignorance, but why was it cancelled?

It was cancelled, reportedbly because the creator spoke out against Nickelodeon. It had something to do with the WGA negotiations thing and the whole feud that came about after it. Not entirely sure the true reason, but that's what I've read.

It would make a killer CN show. Maybe a bit too bright and care free for toonami, but maybe next to JL on sunday? (wishful thinking)

Yeah, that little pilot has been online for a couple months now(not long), but I was REALLY impressed by it. As long as they make sure Dr. Payne is the main character, & DONT make it another "I'm the little teenaged girl who goes on adventures" show. Nick already has...uhm...what is it, now? 5 of those shows? Eh...who's counting?
I'm thinking it's just right for Cartoon Network: Primetime. It's light & funny(which fits a lot of the shows on Primetime), but it has some really good action(Like the new shows that have become staples of Primetime).

I was really surprised about this show! Coming from Nick, I expected some sort of cop-out on how far they would let it go, but they didn't for some reason(Standards and Practices must have been smoking something that day allowing blood and action on Nick :p) It kept my interest, and also had some decent humor. Thak goodness Nick didn't get their greasy mitts on this show. CN needs to get this one for sure! This show was a mix of anime and american animation that actually worked. Did anyone else get kind of reminded about Cowboy Bebop from the end credits, at least the music style did.
What were you general thoughts though? If another network picks it up, what would you change or like to see? Maybe it's just me, but I didn't like the voices. What about Kevin Conroy as Doc Payne? Would that rule or what?

Would that rule or what? I thought the VAing was good, but yeah having Mr. Conroy on would be pretty cool, but it would feel kind of odd if he used his "Batman" voice. The action scene was pretty cool, and I'm surprised that they allowed the Doc to have physical damage, but I liked that too. CN is definately the home for this show. Screw those pantywastes over at Nick.

Anyone mind giving me a synopsis? I have a dial-up connection and I'm not gonna wait three hours just to find out it may not work on my computer. :p

I have a dial up to, lol. On he voices, yeah, the docs voice needs to go, um, and those crewmen  also, maybe uncle wiltson, or whatever his name was.
Synopsis, k Well, it all starts out as a normal trip to school for doc payne and his daughter, when suddenly they see a ship being hyjacked by "uncle milton". The doc goes on board, whipes the floor with the badies (great fight scene!). Two bail out, onto his aircar thingie (which still contains his daughter) she cleans their clocks, another awseome fight scene from the doc. He confronts his brother who escapes, then detonates a bomb, so the doc is running for it while the ship is blowing, the rest is clasic, daughter drives flying car up, barely makes it in time, ect. Did I do good? Also, for some reason it reminds me of that old cartoon "sherlock hound" because of the type of machines, they seem like they are from the 1800s...

Sounds like most of the stuff that's been happening to these Nicktoons (ZIM's cancellation, Steven Hillenburg stopping production on SpongeBob, et. al) is a direct after-effect of the WGA negotiations with the Men in Orange...Who probably wouldn't know a good cartoon if it jumped up and bit 'em in the bee-hinds.

WOW, WOW and WOW! This toon was definetely too far advanced for Nick to ever pick up - the Nicktoons logo at the end just doesn't seem right. I really wish this was going to be airing because I would be watching it all the time. I didn't think the voice acting was that bad - well maybe some of the hunchmen, but their hunchmen! Is there any chance anyone will pick this up? Just seems like a waste to see yet another toon with potential die before it is even given a chance (isn't that usually a Fox thing? )
BTW, liking the new backgrounds Vince!

Damn! Ever day im angered more and more by how close minded Nickelodeon can be! Im starting to lose my faith in humanity. Im still coping with the loss of Zim, and know this. Im already hooked. Did they even air an episode, or is that it? I hope someone picks it up. I wish DOOM upon Nickelodeon!

Is there any way I could download this so that I could watch it whenever I want? I thought this pilot ep. was really good and can't believe Nick would pass up this series. Oh, waitaminute, it's Nick - nevermind, they'd much rather force feed us stuff like Action League now or some other garbage.

It's sad that this won't ever become a TV series. It was pretty cool!
Holy crap that was cool! I'm going to hurt someone if this isn't made into a series. If it does become a series I know it will be one of my favorites.
That was WAY too cool to be a Nicktoon.
The opening and the action scenes really reminded me of Cowboy Bebop with the jazzy music.
