What do superheroes afraid of?

I'd think for Superman, it would be failing in doing something, like protecting a person, or maybe getting to rough with someone. For Batman, it would probably also be failing, and going over the edge, like seriously hurting or killing someone. I know that Nightwing has a thing about heights, but he keeps it under control no problem...but his main fear is not meeting his and what he thinks everyone else's expectations of him are. Babs feared she wasn't adequete enough to be Batgirl, and as Oracle, I think she wants to make sure that she is proving she can do her job. Failure seems to be the biggest underlying fear of some, is not most, superheroes.

This one is general, but I'd say having their identity discovered.

Nightwing has a fear of heights? (That sounds familiar, but high flying acrobatics is all about Nightwing!)

Yeah, seems weird doesn't it? He been in the circus since he was born and he loves it, but he has a fear of heights. There is one comic where the Scarecrow gets some fear toxin in him, and one of the things it does is bring out his fear of heights, but he overcomes it no prob...but it's the fear of failing that he has trouble getting past. Of not meeting Batman's expectations, not being good enough in the end.

I'd say getting shot is probably up there with heights.

If their talents are chemical, they fear being poisoned by whatever is in thier blood that gives them their powers.
If they wear a disguise, they fear being unmasked, or worse, doing something to reveal themselves unwittingly. (Consider Barry Allen, as I've mentioned before, the Flash who talked in his sleep, revealing it all to his wife shortly after the wedding.)
I suppose inadequacy, as mentioned, is up there as well. Which begs the query of how Scarecrow's fear gas would affect Superman, if at all....

I'd have to say failure. Particularly with Superman and Batman.

a similar story like that was also a B:TAS ep, entitled "Fear of Victory"...which, is running in the current B:TAS poll.. :D
I'd say batman's fear is seeing someone's parents die by a bullet....and Superman's would be,as many said, failure at doing somthing...

That's interesting that Nightwing is scared of heights. By the way what's the name of a comic book that says he's afraid of heights. What scares Robin? I would imagine Joker would.
