News courtesy of Anime on DVD (http://animeondvd.com) It's just a small piece of news
The children's anime TV series Tottoko Hamutaro, a cute story about the daily lives of hamsters, will be broadcast on the Cartoon Network at some point in the future.

I'm thinking that Cartoon Network wants to start a programming block during the daytime for little'uns. Not a big block, maybe just between 10 am - 1 pm or something, but it's what the signs are pointing to. I just wonder if such a block would really be able to combat the others. Either way, I doubt Scooby Doo Movies is pulling in anything impressive as it stands.

Us Matts got to stick together and all, don't want all the Joes to take over now do we? :p

I see the words. I see the sentence, and yet, it makes no sense to me.

Sounds disgustingly cute, I'm picturing something similar to Tama and Friends. About the only way this show could get cuter is if they were superhero hamsters. Man, superhero hamsters, I feel my brain cells dying just thinking about it.

Superhero hamsters I'd watch. This show, however, sounds like a lethargic Pingu.

I've seen those hamsters in one of my anime magazines. But it doesn't look like there's anything I can read into it, is there?
Anyway, speaking of Hello Kitty.... I've seen anime videos of it at my video source. Is it a tv show, or OAVs or what?

Oh, the stories I've got on hampsters. Between my brother's suicidal hampster that pulled a Brody off a bookshelf, to my fourth ex's brother microwaving her hampster (she brought it back to life by sticking it in the freezer) to my brother and his wife losing a hampster when my other brother gave it a coronary by hitting the cage with a basketball...I could probably write half the [expletive deleted] scripts for this series.
I'm trying to refrain from loosing the "gerbil-stuffing" jokes that keep bubbling up from my subconscious--can you tell? :p
Re: "Hello Kitty"--didn't she have a CBS series years ago? She and her cutesy pals parodied popular movies. I vaguely recall a blue penguin in a Paul Hogan getup called "Crocodile Pengee"....

I've seen those pictures before! A couple of months ago, IGN Pocket had an article about a "sea of hamster-raising game set to control the minds of Japan". They showed some of those pictures there. When that show does come to the US, does this mean the games will too? If so, heaven help us all. See, out of curiosity one day, I loaded a couple of ROMS for those "raise cute things" games. Most of the cute things ended up being those hamster pics. Needless to say, those games were so sweet my teeth started to rot. The only "non-loser" in the bunch is "Everybody's Breeding! Volume 2: My Amoeba, but I digress.
I think Matt's probably right. Maybe CN is making a junior block or maybe a "Toonami light" for little children. Hmmm....

Aww! They can have a "Tom Jr." who rides around space on a tricycle. BTW, kudos to Zorakfan on those demented Hampster pics earlier on. You can blame him for all the posts I'm going to make tonight...

So...CUTE!
So...WAITASEC! They look like...like...the anime I was talking about before!
I think its a coincidence, tho. I'll see if I get a bit more info on the anime later on from my BF (how he finds full episodes, I do not know.)

I really don't have a problem with it, being as I like watching Nick Jr. during summer break while Scooby and Co. are on, and since I am just in love with kids, (I'm going to have like six I swear), this won't bother me at all. I like watching that kinda stuff 'cause it just reminds me of all the stuff I watched when I was a little kid, like The Little Koala, and stuff like that. The way I figure, little kids gotta have their cartoon network fix too, and since CN is for everybody (Adult Swim, Toonami, and CCF are for all different kinds of cartoon fans) why not just give them a few hours, your either out and about, or asleep, or at school or work anyway. Big fat deal. Sure CN isn't like it used to be, but you have to understand that with more veiwership comes more responsibilities. They can't just show the same old stuff or they won't make any money, then you REALLY won't be seeing your shows because the channel will be defunct.

BOOYA! I knew I've seen it somewhere before!
Rather, I sorta did. You see, a while back a rather goofy manga artist named Itoo Risa made a rather funny yet disturbingly hentai parody of the Hamutaro series, starring Ebichu the hamster and his sex-crazed female owner and her friends. The manga was called Oruchuban Ebichu.
Apparently Gainax also has the man's same sense of humor, as they made the manga into an anime series, without deleting *ANY* of the Not-PC-Even-In-Japan moments found in the manga.
More info on the series can be found here (http://www.gainax.co.jp/anime/awaawa/ebichu/index-e.html) , but be warned-the site (and ultimately the anime itself) is *NOT FOR KIDDIES*, unlike (thankfully!) the series coming to CN.
Once again it is proven that hamsters are a dangerous breed of rodent. BUT DEY SO KAWAIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!! :D :D :p
