This is the talkback thread for Bandai Visual USA Licenses "Shigofumi" and "True Tears" (http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=21259).

Yay, more BV shows I've never heard of. But this time I have the excuse that they've only recently debuted in Japan, and I haven't been following the Winter shows too much.

Anybody seen either of these? Any good?

I heard $40 for one episode.

People wonder why the singles market is doing so poorly...

So I guess Bandai still hasn't realised the Japanese mentality won't work in the US:shrug:

From what I've read, neither series is anything special but they're not terrible. Kinda wish somebody else could have gotten them. But with ADV's status up in the air, Bandai Entertainment having its own problems, Geneon . . . well, you know, and lastly FUNimation and Viz both only snatching up higher-profile material, there really isn't anyone left.

Shigofumi is a really enthralling show, but I can't say I'm happy that it's been liscensed by BVUSA. I would've liked to see it go to ADV or something.

With what's going on with ADV I wouldn't want to see them announce a license for anything I have an interest in.

Altho with what BVUSA charges for 2 episodes a DVD, can't say it makes me wanna check out either show. I hadn't even looked at them yet.

I guess it's up to Bandai Visual USA to save the US anime industry now.;)

I very much enjoy both shows, but licensing already? Both have aired 4 episodes, hardly seems enough to justify a licensing, and especially at those prices. That said, both shows are really good.

Yeah...meaning under different circumstances, of course.

Two, actually. Yeah, with Shigofumi, vol. 1-6 contain two episodes each at $39.99, while vol. 7 contains one at $29.99, while True Tears is kind of in reverse- vol. 1 contains one for $29.99, and vol. 2-7 contain two at $39.99.

I know I sound like a broken record, but man for $30-40 I'd at least want a dub, 3-4 episodes, and a doc/commentary of some sort.

I've been watching Shigofumi and so far, I'm liking it. It's really dark with some aspects and I dunno, I like that. (Not Death Note zomg dark)

Anyway, I'm kind of surprised it's been picked up so quickly. :/ Oh well.
