Siiiiiiiiigh... Ya know I have always dearly loved Roger Ramjet and Rocky & Bullwinkle (two of the very wittiest limited-animation shows of the Sixties)... And so it's with some degree of trepidation that I say this... But there is really and truly no reason in the world for creating DVDs of these programs! Did I hear someone say "BLASPHEMY"?? ;) My point is this... these wonderfully witty, weird, funny series (Roger Ramjet and Bullwinkle) have the most neglible amounts of animation humanly possible. We are not going to see new subtleties of animation, or delicate shadings, it's just NOT there! We are not going to see anything in these digitized versions that's new except a small amount of clarity on the black ink lines. There's just nothing there of real artistic value except the audio. Remember the line from "Men In Black" "...this means I'll have to buy the 'White Album' again." ;) (The 'White Album' has been sold as a double LP, an 8-track tape, a double-cassete, a "half-speed master" LP, and a double CD (probably an audio DVD in the future).

So let's see now, VHS tape, Laserdisc, Video CD, DVD (plus whatever the technology of tomorrow brings). How many times will we be conned into buying the cartoon equivalent(s) of the classic 'White Album'???

Well, it's good for us who missed out on those long out-of-print VHS tapes. I do have one, from the Rhino series, around here someplace. But that's all I've ever seen of Roger (who IS quite funny). So, I will probably pick up these new "Ramjet" DVDs.

And I'll even keep an eye on the clarity of the black ink lines for ya, Soggy. ;)
