John Stewart as GL

Not to knock the show (which I think is one of the best ever,) BUT (yes, that means ignore the preceeding) Why does this Green Lantern use so little Imagination? Is his Ring Flawed?

I assume that JL takes place in the world created by Batman TAS, Superman, and the Batman Superman Adv.

If so, what happened to Kyle Rainer? He seemed to be able to use the GL Ring Imaginatively.

Any explanations would be welcome.

Kyle Rayner was an artist so he was naturally creative when it came to using the ring. John Stewart is a military man so he seems to use the ring just to get the job done, plain and simple. John is also more stoic so if he were to get really imaginative with his ring, I don't think it would fit his personality all that well.

Just a quick point of clarification...

I don't know that John Stewart is actually a military man. I recall in many interviews that creators said he would think like one, or have a "military mind" or something, but did they actually come out and say he's an ex-military man? And I am sorry, Joshua, if it seems like I'm coming down on you. I'm not. A lot of people say this, and I just don't recall hearing it myself.

I heard something about GL and Metamorpho being old army buddies in the episode "Metamorphosis." So we'll have to wait and see.
