Try watching it for a change instead of making baseless claims. You might find that you like it :p

I never liked it, even back when I was young and stupid (aka, I was still in elementary/high school). I tried watching it about 4 years ago, when I had friends tlaking about it all the time; still couldn't get into it.

Just recently, over Christmas as a matter of fact, my cousin was watching it, I tried to watch it, but I couldn't. And it was semi-pornographic. I mean, there was two girls wrestling in a pool of egg nog. Definately not wholesome television (but then again, how often is wholesomeness fun :p )

Wrestling has always been stupid. When fans realize that, they will accept it. I don't mind it; I've been watching it for a long time (since 1985), and I know it isn't high art. It isn't even middle art. But it's all right with me.

I stopped watching after a while. It started to get very boring to me, so I stopped.

I've never really been fond of wrestling. It just seemed to fake and rather loud and obnoxious to me. From time to time I'll maybe pause while flipping channels and watch. But it's always for a sec....really, if there was absolutely nothing on tv, I'd rather turn it off then watch wrestling. Why is it that some guys really seem to like it?

I hate it. I used to watch it when I was younger, but looking back, I now realize that I liked it for it's homoerotic nature.

I used to watch WCW, then went over to WWF and then I stopped watching altogether. I can't believe I was into wrestling before...

Hardly anything is more disturbing than watching half-naked oily men grab each other while enacting soap opera-like plots. Unless you're into that sort of thing.

Bribed to watch a few episodes. Not my bowl of chowder. Nothing against those who like it. End of story.

I hated wrestling the first time I saw it, even as a toddler. I thought it was attempting to make a mockery of real sports (football, basketball, baseball, ice hockey, etc.) and thus I didn't consider it legit in any way.

The only time I've ever watched is when my 15 year old brother (who loves wrestling) has made me. I still hated it. (The reason I had to watch was because I made him watch some Batman/Superman in return. I still hate wrestling, but now he's a Batman/Superman/Batman Beyond/Justice League fan! :D )

But, it's not like I have a personal vendetta against it or anything. The wrestlers, TV cameramen, set and prop designers, and even the women wrestling in egg nog :p are all people earning a living, just like the rest of us. And if millions of people like watching the "soap opera" that is wrestling, then more power to them. :) It's a free country, after all. :D

I love American football! Specifically, the NFL and NCAA (primarily the Big XII Conference, because I'm a Texas Longhorn). :)

I think wrestling appeals to a certain audience- if you like it you love it, and if you don't, you hate it.

It's kind of funny- I hated it to begin with- I thought it was stupid, lame, fake, and lower-class trash... Then I started watching.

I don't know, for me it's just entertainment. I watch occasionally, and sometimes it can be an action packed soap opera, and other times... It sucks.

That's just one man's opinion- I can't let you guys go bashing wrestling without it being defended at all... ;)

I understand if people don't like wrestling, but I am really sick of the "it sucks because its fake" line. I mean it's no faker then any other form of fiction. It's basically another form of storytelling, and they even admit it as such (and have done so for some time now).

Seriously, you should see a wrestling match or a wrestling storyline when its at it's very best. It's just as entertaining as reading a good superhero comic book (you'd be surprised how much alike wrestling and superhero characters can be sometimes) or watching a good movie.

But the sad fact is, it's just not for everybody.

I used to watch it when I was younger, but not anymore. I grew up with Hulk Hogan, Randy "Macho Man" Savage, Jake the Snake, Andre the Giant, Brutus the Barber Beefcake, and all the rest of the characters that were big in the late 80's & early 90's.

Oddly enough though, I really enjoyed the Tough Enough reality series that aired on MTV. Although, I'm a reality TV junkie so that certainly helps.

And how could we forget "Rowdy" Roddy Piper? (I still think the WWF hit its peak around the mid-80s, with Cyndi Lauper  and Captain Lou Albano at ringside!!)

I dunno..I don't particulary like wrestling, but I'll admit, occassionally, I'll watch if I notice it's on...

I'm surprised at how much the violence has increased...the past few times I've watched, I've seen ppl bleeding...=\

but it's a soap opera for guys...and I aint into soaps...

I never really liked wrestling. I tried watching it, but it just wasn't my thing. I don't mind that other people like it, could be worse, I just don't think the wrestlers should try to be actors.

Whether or not you like wrestling, this is one thing we can all agree on. Seriously- does anyone think Scorpion King will be any good? I mean, for christ's sake, it's staring the Rock!

Usually bad movies are made bad by many factors, but this one was dead from the start with the Rock at the helm.

Heat, Raw, Smackdown, PPV everymonth - God it's on all the time at my house and I hate it!!! My husband is the biggest fan (I was even dragged to a couple of live shows before the WWF became to big to grace our tiny state with their presence). He's been into it since he was a kid and he's always talking to me about it. When people say it's fake I gotta agree - not about the wrestling itself. While some of the moves are cheesy, many of what these guys do takes a lot of talent and practice, and they definately get hurt. What's fake is the 'storylines'. It's ridicuous. But that's just my personal taste.

I do, however, feel strongly that there's way too much violence towards women - once a wrestler went around slamming them through tables - and way too much T&A. I wish they'd show a little more respect towards women. In it's current atmosphere I wouldn't let my children watch if I had any.

lmao..your gonna have to come up with a stronger argument than that..half the so called entertainment that's on tv right now is overrated...most wrestlers are really cool people. and they're always looked down on by people who pass little judgements like yours...they don't get they're butts kissed day in and day out like the "celebs".. even though they work ten times harder...yeah its so fake that hhh, stone cold steve austin, chris benoit and rhyno were put for almost a year with injuries...guys like mick foley, guys who work through injuries sometimes..go up to them and tell them that what theyre doing is fake and looks really stupid in a ring..yes the storylines are fake. yes the weapons are plastic  thanks for the enlightenment...any true fan knows these things..we dont try to pretend that it's anything more than that..but we see talented athelets who can act, cut great interviews and do amazing things in the ring and we get entertained..just like anything else on tv, it's entertainment..it's staged yes, but when a guy leaves that ring after a really brutal main event, he's sore, he's hurting and sometimes injured in some way.stupid looking fake stuff in a ring doesn't usually leave you that way... we watch it for the same reason anyone else on here watches batman, superman, buffy smallville, simpsons, etc...for creative storylines, cool intriguing characters, intensity, humor and drama..just as mick foley put it, wrestling has a little bit of everything mixed in. it's in a world all it's own. ..it's a show and it's usually a damn good one.

The thing people need to understand is that professional wrestling is not intended to be an athletic competition, nor does it fully claim to be such. The action is scripted, but the moves hurt, I can promise you that. One of the WWF's bigger superstars, Triple H, just returned in January after being gone for about 8 months after he torn the quadricep muscle is his leg while performing a seemingly simple move. (Triple H still managed to finish the match he was in to its designed finish by the way.) He had to have major surgery on his leg and had been in physical rehab up until his return. No, pro wrestling is not real in the sense that the two athletes (yes they are athletes) are competing to see who can come out on top. It is entertainment, and an extremely fun form of entertainment at that.

I feel the trivia thread I started has helped to some extent to bring the wrestling fans on these boards out of the woodwork and for that I am proud.

I strongly encourage those of you who feel you hate wrestling, but have never really given it a chance to check out “Tough Enough 2” on MTV starting Thursday, Feb. 28 at 10 p.m. eastern, to see what people just like you are willing do, or willing to give up, just be a “fake wrestler.”

It's a faked, stage performance. It's like a play, only with more boobs, booze, and explosions. That's about it. Hey if it makes people happy, cool. If kids are dumb enough to emulate it, they deserve to be hurt, and no, I don't watch it because I hate it. Like chaos and Josie.

Pornographic? No. Raunchy, sleazy, stupid, muscle-bound femme-doms with an attitude problem grappling each other to appease the dunken, ADD-daignosed masses? Yes!

Now if you want porn, go to www. (zanyvg.overclocked.org) ....

*NO! NO! A THOUSAND TIMES, NO!

(Disclaimer: Not all people who watch wrestling are drunken, ADD femme-dom freaks. Sorry if I offend anyone, I'm insulting the masses, which is always fun. No actual pornography is contained within this post)

I'm a hardcore Auto Racing fan. Many people think that racing is popular because of the crashes. Nothing could be furture from the truth. I am not a race fan because I like watching people crash. And I'm also sure WWF fans arn't fans *JUST* because of the showing of the skin....

It's staged, but not faked. If you're gonna slag pro-wrestling, do your research. When a person falls 20 feet off a cage and into an announcer's table, it's gonna hurt. Yeah, these guys know how to fall, but you're gonna kill your body in the long run.

I recommend people, even non-fans, read Mick Foley's first book, "Have a Nice Day!" It's candid and doesn't insult your intelligence. You get the feeling Foley's a little crazy, but he's honest. And when you get to the thumbtack chapter and wince in disbelief, then go out and get the tape and see for yourself.

I used to have a roommate that watched it. So I watched it a few times, and what struck me was how obviously staged it was: wrestlers jumping to help the other one "throw" them, really fake looking punches, absolutly no attempt at defense, and tables the seem to collapse far to easily. Also, the fact that cameras always caught the fights back stage and in the alleys always bothered me; once again, obviously faked.

So anyways, it didn't really catch my attention and I don't watch it.

It's just entertainment!!!!! It's no worse than Survivor or adults who watch cartoons. I'm tired of people who degrade wrestling fans. ESPECIALLY sports reporters. They make a living writing about grown men who play kids games for a living. I am a LOOOONNNNGGGG time fan. By the way, I like cartoons (anime), "reality tv", and wrestling. Later.

I do like wrestling. A lot of the stars (Bret Hart, Mick Foley) have complained that it has gotten way too rauncy.

I do like wrestling, but I think it's gone overboard.

I just don't really see the point of wrestling.. Just beat each other up, that it? With lame scripted little plots like "so and so did this backstage with this and this other one is gonna go after them because of it" and stuff. I don't think wrestling is fake, just very dumb.

Women Wrestling - Sells cause of the women.
Guy wrestling - Sells because it goes by "It's always funnier when it happens to someone else."

Someone mentioned The Scorpian King with The Rock... This film's most likely gonna bomb, even the sand was more interesting than The Rock in The Mummy Returns. :D

Isn't that the same idea as boxing?? I don't hear you complaining about that.

Basketball: Run to the other side and throw a ball in a hoop. Hearing that doesn't sound too exciting.

Football: Run to the other side of the field with a ball.

Baseball: Hit a ball with a stick.

Everything you just mentioned could be dumbed down to the simplest words. Yes, there is more to baseball, basketball, and football than those descriptions, just like more description can go with wrestling.

Frankly I think Football is the most violent sport of all time. Look how violent it is! It's more violent then wrestling! (However I do tackle people pretty good. When me and my class were playing Basketball, I slammed a kid against the wall)

Well, basketball, football, baseball, and even boxing have an element of strategy to them. It's the element of strategy that makes these sports interesting (to me, at least). And wrestleing just doesn't have any stategy to it because it is scripted. I think this is the point of contention most people have with wrestiling when they say it's "fake"

Now, "real" wrestling, by what I mean is what you'd find in high school and/or college, does have a strategic element.

Of course pro wrestling has an element of strategy. Knowing how the wrestlers wrestle (every wrestler's style is different) and how the wrestler wins makes up for the entertainment value. Even seeing where the storyline goes next is used, just like in any sport. You see how a sports team wins just like how you see how a wrestler wins (scripted or not). I can't believe I 'm explaining something so obvious to you.

Well, I was always under the impression that the matches were decided on before hand? Was I mistaken? If not, then I can see how the strategy matters.

But I don't think it'd matter that much; I just never liked it. Mostly because of the story lines and such. The fights would probably be more interesting without 'em. But that, of couse, is just my opinion.

I have no problem with wrestling sure it's corny and fake but not the injuries. But with the human acceleration it's like a spanish soap opera.
