It hit me while I was watch Batman Begins.

The Big O - Directed by Christopher Nolan.
Just think.
The complicated story formed within the second season, visualized by Nolan, would be a stroke of sheer genius.

Thus one I had been thinking about for a long while that would work for the steaming masses ...

Trigun - Directed by Robert Rodriguez [Co-Produced by Quintin Tarantino]
For Gunslinger story, one of a man cooping with who he is and trying to find a way to deal with his past and the damage it could do to not only his future by the entire world's.
Face it, it would be one of the best Western Anime-to-Live-Action Adoptions ever.

For now, I watch Hajime no Ippo/Fighting Spirit to be one. I'm impressed by the live action One Pound Gospel so far (though the first episode barely premiered) and I'm convinced Hajime no Ippo would 100% work.

A live-action version of Hellsing might work if John Woo gets involved with the writing. Also, a live-action Ghost in the Shell movie doesn't seem to far off as well if the script is done right.

Yeah.
I could totally see Hellsing.
But we'd get some crap like Underworld..

I could see FMA working if it was divided up properly, since it already features Western names.

I second Big O, I think it could be done and done fairly well if handled by just the right director.

And with the advent of Transformers, I think one of the more "super robot" Gundam like Wing or G Gundam could be done.

what about the old-school super-robots like Mazinger, Grandizer, Danguard Ace, Raydeen, Voltron, Getter Robot,etc...?

Speaking of anime becoming films, have anyone given thought of making anything that deals with Pokemon or Digimon without making them as cash-ins for the video games?

With most of these fantasy stories becoming extinct after the bombs that were The Golden Compass, maybe movie companies might think of creating serious stories that can dive deeper in the Pokemon/Digimon Worlds.

Or Fushigi Yugi.

Others?

Death Note with Zack Efron as Light.

Gokusen. An American version could turn the whole delinquent students make good genre on its head since the inspirational teacher also leads a crime family.

From Eroica With Love directed by someone like Bruckenheimer. But no straightening acts, please.

FAKE. Gravitation. Kannazuki no Miko. Happy endings rock! I'm so sick of Brokeback emo sob stories. It's time, these can be made cheaply enough and they'll make great library titles as the culture catches up.

Yu-Gi-Oh- Death T. An adaptation of the first 7 volumes sticks mainly to real world settings and unknown actors as Yugi makes friends and takes twisted revenge leading up to the Death T trap of the twisted Kaiba brothers. Movie 2, if it gets made, gets more ambitious with Duelist Kingdom. Later movies go into Battle City and Ancient Egypt.

And depending on how Hollywood handles DBZ, One Piece might work as the raw material for a fun steampunkish pirate movie or two.

...Zac Efron as Light..?
No.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Live action couldn't work solely for 1 stone cold reason..
Yugi's hair.

One Piece should be more CG then anything, or like James Cameron's Battle Angel.

Why does everyone think you have to have the same hair style in the movie adaption like in the cartoon..its not always like that. Yu-gi-oh could be adapted with out the hairstyle..remember its the story that counts. But story wise no Yu-gi-oh could not work on the big screen as a live action.

the ones that would work for me are.....

1. Adaption of EVA.
2. Naruto can be adapted.
3. Adaption of Digimon
4. Adaption of Gantz.

THANK YOU!

It's why I refuse to watch the movie. I've had enough with the sad, predictable endings. -.-

YGO could work, or at the very least I could make it work. Take the plot of the first chapter of the Manga and the Shaadi stuff from volume two of the [original release] of the Manga and sort of intercut it so that the whole 'Yûgi avenges Jônôchi and Honda' thing ends the first act and instead of that final 'Yûgi and Jônôchi become friends' scene happening right after have it save for the end of the film so that Jônôchi's character has time to mawl over it as he helps Yûgi save Anzu from Shaadi. End the film with Yûgi and Jônôchi becoming friends. The final scene could be Yûgi teaching the gang Magic & Wizards being intercut with a male student walking down the hallway (his face not shown) and then back in the classroom the teacher calls for order as he introduces the new transfer student, son of a billionaire, Seto Kaiba.

Boom, sequel get set up in one thirty second scene.

Death Note with Zack Efron as Light.

No-****ing-way. The only actor I can think of who'd be creepy yet attractive enough to play the role would be James Franco (assuming he isn't too old yet).

Monster is the only anime that truly needs a live-action movie, if only because it never really needed an anime (at least the way it was handled for the anime; they could have done it in an interesting expressionist style which could have strengthened the material but instead we got extremely limited and rather boring animation, especially by Madhouse's standards).

EVA probably won't happen at all, especially after The Golden Compass's failure (if ultra-vague references to religion mixed with lesser-known source material is equal to a bomb, then a movie about killing Angels based on an obscure cartoon would equal at least ten Hiroshimas), but I'd enjoy a well-done adaptation with a good director (Alfonso Cuaron would be amazing) and really awesome special effects, especially as a relief after the inevitable slew of awful mecha films in the wake of Transformers.

I forgot one anime/manga who could be made as a live-action movie: Gunsmith Cats, the trouble is: who wants to let a 1967 Shelby Mustang GT-500 to be destroyed after a stunt scene like a car chase or an explosion?

And which actors could perform the roles of Rally Vincent, Bean Bandit, Minnie-May, Becky Farrah,etc...?

FAKE. Gravitation

FAKE! Absolutely! That could put Brokeback Mountain to shame.(given it's done correctly) As much as I enjoy the series, I'm struggling with the idea of a Gravitation live-action, just because it's hard to find somebody with the right personality to pull the characters off. Although... I'd given anything to find a guy who looks like Yuki. XD

I could also see shows like Eva being made into live action films. It's got the raw emotion factor that really draws alot of people in. It would probably cost a ton of money though, with giant robots and destroying vast amounts of land and all.

There's always Akira, too. I mean, if Kanye West can sample the movie and put it in his music video.. maybe it could eventually one day lead to something more?

His and Her Circumstances could equal a cute live action love story, or especially 5cm per Second: A Chain of Short Stories About Their Distance.

Kanye West as main lead in AKIRA: the live action american abomination. Look what you started.

I think she meant that the fact the video references Akira then, hey "maybe" a movie could happen.

In a Death Note movie..
I personally think that Giuseppe Andrews [via Detroit Rock City]
would be perfect for the role.

Gundam I would have to say. Special effects technology is at a level where the time is right. I don't think it would happen though

By something more, I hope you mean getting people to discover the original movie, or perhaps a faithful-to-the-manga animated series. I don't see Akira working in live-action at all. It'd be almost as stupid as a live-action Spirited Away.

Monster, Akira, Yugo the Negotiator, Nana, Sci-Fi Harry...

Pretty much any series that would have been live-action in the first place if it was made in America.

No. Just no. Especially in the '80s when it came out.
