Funny thing: NeoGeo carts contained both the home version and the arcade version on the same cart. MVS is the arcade version of the game. Generally, the arcade version has higher difficulty, less options, and no censorship.

But it is cool to play the arcade without putting a quarter every time you lose, and they did well because this is perfect for games like metal slug, sengoku and Samurai Showdown 1 which 4 or five credits aren't enough for them

Don't get too happy, Art of Fighting & World Heroes only give you 4 cerdits(continues):p

KOF 94 came censored with blood and...hum.....Mai's bounciness removed, gamefaqs show's a code but I don't understand how to do it:sad:

You might be able to beat her then :p

(seriously, I find her bounciness distracting, and always get beaten by her in games where its kept)

MVS games are by default censored (case in point the infamous "milk" in Metal Slug) but can be rendered uncensored by tweaking with the cartridge's internal dip switches.

I'm not sure if this is actually possible with a Wii though.

so can you play the arcade version or not?

I didn't even notice since its the first KoF game I own, and as far as Mai's bounciness I thought they just kept getting bouncier over the years.

I'm 95% sure that the MVS option is, infact, the arcade version.

So if we select MVS, we get Mai bouncing like she should be?:p

Just tried, Mai's "attributes" still don't....err...um.....bounce:sweat:

Here's the code listed in gamefaqs:

Blood Code (AES only)

To enable the censored blood from the non-Japanese regions, wait for the high scores to appear in the opening demo, then press A+D on controller one and B+C on controller two at the same time. Then press START.

Can anybody try it with Gamecube controllers and tell which buttons to use?

Update!

KOF 94's blood and "bounce" can be turned on with this code, someone at gamefaqs figured it out:

The Code:

Blood Code (AES only)
To enable the censored blood from the non-Japanese regions, wait for the high scores to appear in the opening demo, then press A+D on controller one and B+C on controller two at the same time. Then press START.

Button translation:

Neo-Geo -- Wii Remote
A -- 1
B -- 2
C -- A
D -- B

Neo-Geo -- Classic Controller
A -- B
B -- A
C -- Y
D -- X

Neo-Geo -- Gamecube Controller
A -- B
B -- A
C -- X
D -- Y

Just tried it with Classic controller for P1 and Gamecube controller for P2...and it works :D

MVS mode is also on the Art of Fighting Anthology and Fatal Fury: Battle Archives vol 1 as well. My friend was trying it out, and he figured it out that it is the arcade difficulty...

Mai's bounciness and King's drinking habit are the factors that make me enjoy beating them hard.
King shouldn't drink at all to set an example for her brother, doesn't she fear she might get in a drunken rage against the kid she cherishes the most?

Haven't played the VC versions, but in the Neo-Geo AES games, "MVS" was indeed merely one of many difficulty settings that you could select after the main title screen. It had no impact on the actual content.

Although considering the MVS versions themselves had some 8 levels of difficulty, I'm not really sure what difficulty the MVS version refers to.
