Better than what? o_o

EDIT: Didn't notice the poll title. I have to say yes. It's pretty sad when probably the best performance in a dub comes from David Moo.

Wow, I didn't think this was an actual question.

Sort of like asking if the sun is bright or if the Moe craze has been beneficial to Anime fans.

The answers to those are Yes and No respectively. ;3

But yes, FUNimation has done quite a lot to make the dub of One Piece proper. English versions of the openings and closings, approval of the voices, and having lots of love for the original material.

The only problem right now is CN treating it sub-par.

Not their fault the show's rep was destroyedby the 4Kids version. They really do not care whether or not it's a different dub, either. Once the ratings make a decent enoug show of improval maybe we'll get a double premier schedule but right now I'd rather CN has a few dozen episodes in stock before doing that.

I'm kind of surprised that this is a question too. Anyway, I voted yes. I barely watched the 4Kids' dub of One Piece but when I did, I always felt that it was so bad with the puns, voices and dialogue. Aside from One Piece, I don't think that 4Kids has done anything that bad. Anyway, it is much better with Funimation. The voices match quite nicely and it feels that the voice actors have gotten into their characters by this point. The opening and ending themes are wonderful and I've heard that they've kept close to the Japanese version.

I wouldn't worry about the way Cartoon Network treats One Piece. Naruto started the same way and it eventually was allowed to have more of a TV-PG rating. Besides that, it is still much better than what 4Kids did. The uncut DVDs will also probably start coming out sometime early this year, depending on when Funimation make the announcement about them.

Hell yes!! Certainly yes!! This new dub is competely the way One Piece should be and I can watch it with the refreshing Openings & Endings.

Umm, Mike Mcfarland said that the ratings have been going up at a recent convention.

But still, he didn't give any specifics, so it's not like there's been a dramatic change in ratings. If there was, One Piece would surely be airing more than once a week.

The answers... No... ;3

Depends on what kind of anime you like. :p

As for the original question, yes. Yes! A thousand times, yes!!!

How so? Unless you mean they should be showing it on AS rather than Toonami.

Of course it's better now. My only complaint about One Piece is that CN should be airing the series nightly instead of weekly. The OP arcs are too long to only be airing once a week. That and I wish that Toonami would have 1 long commercial interruption instead of 3 little ones throughout the show.

Yes, it's actually rewatchable now, and that counts a lot for me.

The only thing really wrong with One Piece under Funimation's dub is the continued overediting of some of the actual punches/hits in a fight/impact being taken out, and that's CN's fault so really Funimation's doing nothing wrong. And when you compare that to 4Kids doing about everything wrong then I think it's pretty obvious which was the better dub.

If they were high enough the show would be getting 'better treatment', right? That's the logic I was using.

Seemingly it is not for a number of people but at least we are getting in some more posts. :p

Personally, I still prefer the 4Kids voice cast. It had a lot more character.

Otherwise, it's great.

As for the topic, I don't even think it's a question that FUNi's dub is so much better than 4Kids'. At the same time, even if FUNi had started with OP in the first place, I'd still be praising the dub since it's just right. It's how OP should be viewed.

Yes, but I never said it wasn't doing well for itself, just not enough for double premiers.

Outside of changing Zolo, then I have to say yes, and it seems that most of TZ agrees. In fact it's currently unanimous.

Meh, he should go back to doing animes with MB as he was a fantastic Guts. He does NOT work as Zoro, and should not lower himself to work for 4Kids.

However, I don't agree with Sabat's voice either. Zoro and Luffy are two voices you just cannot do right in English.

Work is work though. If 4Kids casts him to play a role in one of their productions, he wouldn't turn it down.

We've a thread for who is the better Zoro in the Toonami forum, let's move that discussion there, okay? :)

One thing I'm confused about is what makes people think we'll get double premiers anytime in the near future? I mean, sure, a spot for encore airing of the previous ep before the new one could work, but Naruto only recently started their two new eps a week deal, and they've been at it well over two years. They not only have more experience with the show, but likely have many episodes backlogged by now, so it'll take them a while before they start to lag. With OP, Funi's just getting their feet wet, and even having a couple dozen eps ready isn't good enough to establish a solid double premier schedule. But once it's seen how far in the ratings its coming, I'm sure it'll get an encore slot to itself.

Certainly not. I just believe that they should be giving it a real TV-PG and not this fake, less-than TV-Y7 rating. I say less, because we can't have any shot to the face in this when DragonBall Z had them flying around like nobodies business. What makes it worse is that One Piece is airing after Naruto, which gets away with a lot more and with the same rating.

Personally, I find that the new Sanji's voice is just forgettable. I like most of the other voices, but Sanji sounds like a background character.

Yeah, I'd have to say that would be the biggest problem as far as Sanji goes. He's not bad and when he acts all gaga over the girls he sounds relatively entertaining, but he's otherwise forgettable. Sounds like just a normal guy.

YES! This perfectly explains why 4Kids' One Piece VA's appealed to me so. Say what you will about the acting for characters like Sanji, Mr. 2, or Ussop, but nobody can deny that their voices were distinctive: nobody else in animation sounded like them, and I'd venture to say that nobody else will. One imagines the character, and one can instantly conjure how they sound. Vale's Sanji, as good as it is, doesn't do that. A million actors could have done just as well.

More on topic, I'd have to say yes, and surprisingly so. While I enjoyed the hell out of 4Kids One Piece--I'll always believe that it at its worst was miles better than Naruto at its best--Funi's more faithful approach has increased my appreciation of the series tenfold. While the compromises they've made for the TV broadcast annoy me--more so than they would have under 4Kids--it's one hell of a show. Hell, I get goosebumps every time its on.

If you're asking me. Heck yes, FUNimation did their homework. And I couldn't be more happier.

- Episode naming is shockingly similar as the japanese title. FUNimation only just changed the wording around. 4Kids, they screwed with this.

- Original japanese score intact

- Japanese Intro/Ending with english lyrics. A plus for me :). Ah Khan, he though of the worst. "Oh we think that fans would like the rapping theme" don't think so Kahn!

- FUNimation's pronounciation of the characters were more better than 4Kids
