Welcome to This Week in Comics for December 28, 2007 - January 3, 2008!

This is the place to discuss the comics you've bought this week, whether it be a brand new title or old back-issues. We also welcome and encourage talk about comics in general - news you've read on comic news sites, the state of the industry in general, upcoming issues you're excited about, etc. All we ask is that you please use spoiler brackets in the event that your comments get too detailed concerning a particular storyline. This way the book won't be ruined for anyone who hasn't read it yet.

For a list of the new items shipping this week, please consult Diamond Comics' Shipping List (http://previews.diamondcomics.com/public/default.asp?t=1&m=1&c=6&s=430&ai=64751).

This Week's Pick of the Week brings us back to my love of Vampire Hunter D. At first, I thought that the new Yoshitaka Amano: The Collected Art of Vampire Hunter D was a softcover of the Coffin (http://www.darkhorse.com/profile/profile.php?sku=13-424) hardcover book released a few months back, (both of which explore the artwork of Vampire Hunter D). But it turns out this is yet ANOTHER new Amano book, featuring Vampire Hunter D artwork, (and a new VHD story written in English for the first time)!

It's well worth picking up if you're a fan of the character or the artist!

Nice little feature article about the FF: Isla de la Muerte one-shot up at CBR (http://forum.newsarama.com/showpost.php?p=4918976&postcount=19), including the first 10 pages of the issue. Looks like fun.

Mark Siegel of First Second Publishing just got interviewed (http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=141648) at Newsarama. They're definitely one of my favorite new publishers, and now it sounds like they're aiming to land video game readers with a Prince of Persia graphic novel coming in late 2008. The preview seems less-than-great, but I have very fond memories of the original game (played way back on my Apple II!).
