What's so bad about the Drew Carey version?
Everyone judges the US show based on its first US season, but it's improved tenfold and the thing is a blast, not to mention the newest season has a whole bunch of special guests, like the old British show used to..although of course these guests are much more famous, due to ABC/Disney funding the show.

Guest Stars do not a Whose Line make....
Personaly...I don't like Drew. He's not funny, he makes fun of the show..I hate how he feels that the point of the show is that the points don't matter. Shut up! No...they don't matter...that's the joke...I don't need you to explain it to me...
PLus, Drew can't do the skits...he ALWAYS flubs it up. Cause he's a looser.
Clive was so much betterer, sophisticated, FUNNY, etc.

I really have to agree. Clive had this air of dignity around him, even though he was always so funny (I love the way Greg and Tony keep picking on him & vice versa). Drew's really just annoying, and his actual participation makes the sketches just drag on. Clive never tried to do any of the skits.
I just think the American WLiiA needs to vary their contestants. Ryan & Colin have done so much with both series that it feels that they're running out of material now; Wayne's just there to sing. Yeah, the British series had regulars, but they had LOTS of regulars, so two or three weren't completely overused. Maybe if the American WLiiA brought in some new folks (more than one a show--give Colin or Ryan a bit of a breather), I'd like it more. And get rid of Drew Carey.
Still, if I have a choice between ANY WLiiA and Ab Fab, Ab Fab wins. Just one ep a night, please!

Drew Carey saved the show from death. Get rid of Drew Carey and the show would die. I don't want that and you don't want that.
One of the conditions Carey had to face when keeping the show from cancellation was that he was CONTRACTURALLY BOUND TO DO THE END SKIT. In an interview, he mentioned that he had no choice but to try improv at each taping. Ryan and Colin would take him out to a few improv clubs a week to give him practice.

Wow, such Drew-bashing :( I personally like him a lot and think he's very funny. He's not an improv commedian naturally, but I think he does pretty good. Not all the skits he's in are great, but then not all of Colin's or Ryan's are great either. The best part of the whole show is that it looks like they're having fun, just a bunch of pals goofing off and it happens to be taped.

And let's not forget Drew's success with his standup career, book, and TV show. I think he's hilarious and wouldn't exactly call him a "looser." As for Clive, I was not a fan. All his jokes were obvious and he always looked down on Americans. Nazi. Besides, when they make fun of Drew, it's just as effective.
Ryan and Colin make the show. I'd hate to see them step aside for the sake of variety, as any episode without them would feel incomplete. Kinda like those early episodes where it was all British comedians. They were funny up to a point. Then when Ryan first joined, he blew them out of the water. As did Colin and Greg Proops. After that, the bar was raised significantly.

=\ It was a British Show...so yeah, there was some American Bashing...I'd hardly call him a Nazi though...
As for Drew saving it from cancellation....shows die, it's a fact of life. I hardly see Drew's version as the same show anyway, so.
Also, I dislike the extreme editing of the new version..
I know even the British version was edited, but it was subtle, and left in more of the atmosphere...I really dislike the cut-Wayne's Joke-Cut-Ryan's Joke-cut-Colin's Joke-Cut Back to another Wayne Joke-etc...they shoot them out so fast, it's obviouslly edited...which to me destroys the feeling of "IMPROV" which is what the show is about...
I dunno, I grew up on the classic British Version. And yes, some variety would be nice...it's about 4 people doing improv...not Colin & Ryan & Two other guys doing improv...

I hate beans. I hate George Wendt. He may be alright in Cheers, but he had a *script* then. He's *terrible* at making stuff up on the spot. I think Clive just let him win that game because he was the guest....
Meanwhile, I'd have to say that my favorite is Brad Sherwood. Now *he* is funny.
And naraht? You are *not* forgiven for your avatar. Good day. {*CLANG*}

Drew's Line isn't editted.
In fact, they left in the confrontation Drew had with one of the producers when they tried to do a skit called "Bill Cosby and Hitler" because Disney didn't want them saying Hitler. There was about 45 seconds of debate before they finally changed it to "Bill Cosby and the Accountant." (Lame, Disney. Just lame.) Ryan argued that they were talking about Rudolph Hitler. :)

erm..sorry, translation from TV Production person to TV Fan..
By Edited, I was talking about taking one piece of footage...chopping out bad parts, and splicing it back together...not neccassarily content editing...
ABC's version does this far more frequently than the British version..granted, it's mostly dead air/improvers getting set up type stuff, but it's more obvious to me...the "mask" type segments they've been doing recently really bug me, cause you go from one person sitting there, to another...without them getting up. The british version the few times they did similer skits, showed them rifleing through the prob boxes, and didn't seem so staged...
