Well, at least it's not "Duck Dodgers Babies"...

Ah yes,the old 'Hey,remember the time we made <Insert cartoon character here> into a superhero spoof? Let's make it into a full series!' ploy. But this, incidentally sounds pretty good, and if all goes well Porky 'The Eager Young Space Cadet' should be included too. And even more hopefully, they'll get Bob Bergen and Joe Alaskey (The current voices of Porky and Daffy) to do the voices. And of course Marvin can make an occaisional guest appearance now and again! If all this goes well, then this may be a pretty enjoyable and funny series.

Now THIS I gotta see. I would rather watch grass grow than see a "Looney Tunes Babies" series, but this one shows promise. I think both "Duck Dodgers" shorts are pretty good, the first is better, obviously. I'm glad they are doing a series with characters that have good voices behind them, Joe Alaskey and Bob Bergen do a great job with Daffy and Porky, and I believe it's Alaskey who does Marvin too. I always thought Marvin Martian needed to be used more to jutify all that merchandise, maybe this show could use him. Wonder if Chuck Jones had any input in this?

They have to get Mr. Bergen and Mr. Alaskey to voice the character. No Canadian voice actors! (No offense to the Canadians). Seriously though, these guys are great. There's no reason why they shouldn't voice them. Hopefully, WB will ask them to be involved.

One of my favorite things about the earlier Looney Tunes comics (pre-50 before Alvarez) were the new Duck Dodgers stories. Its arguably one of Jones funniest bits since the Rabbit/Duck season trilogy. I'd be all over this moreso than the proposed Looney Tunes Babies :)

And at cartoon Network at that ^____^

Bob Bergen, Porky Pig's current voice actor is having problems logging in, so he told me to pass this forward to you guys:

"Hey all!! Thanks for the nice words!! I can't speak for Joe, but I really apprectiate it!! I hope to get involved in the new Duck Dodgers project, and I hope it lives up to your expec-teh-teh-eh-expec-teh-teh-eh-hope ya like it!"

I might give this a try. I'd take it over "Looney Tunes Babies" any day.

I doubt it.

No offense, but I think Joe Alasaky does a crappy job voicing Daffy. Listen to his voice at the end of the Looney Tunes show when he says, "Thanks for the sour opinions, Cousin!" That's horrible! It sounds like Plucky Duck! The person who voiced Daffy in Space Jam did a better job.

Well, he did do Plucky too...

I think that he does a good job. But maybe I have an inexplicable sympathy for people named Joe. ;)

I'm going to pretend I didn't just read that.

If they do some good gagwork (staying away from movie and TV show parodies at all costs!!!!!) and avoid adding annoying reoccuring new characters/sidekicks it will be good.

It'd be great if they went back to the original source for the character designs, ignoring the all of the terrible re-designs of "Duck Dodgers" Chuck Jones did for the sequel and limited edition artwork.

I wonder if it will have a theme song.

Will it be a Cartoon Cartoon? I hope not...

And what, prey tell is wrong with Dee Bradly Baker voicing Daffy? Perhaps you are mistaking Daffy in Space Jam for Bugs Bunny. NOW HIS voice stunk in the movie. Not Daffy's.

Oh no, I know who I meant...that bland, harsh, uneven Daffy. But yes, Billy West's Bugs was pretty crummy as well. Honestly, I thought most of the Space Jam voices pretty much stunk. Even Bob Bergen's voices weren't all that great.

They sounded too much like impersonators "doing" Looney Tunes voices, if that makes any sense. I was surprised to not see Rich Little's name in the credits.

Yeah, I know I'm dwelling on just one of the many problems "Space Jam" had (I think there's a 64-page thesis on that very subject floating around), but I think Warner Bros. underestimated the importance of them for this production. They had a producer whose only previous animation experience was "Heavy Metal," a director and writers that couldn't produce funny or original Looney Tunes material if their lives depended on it, an animation crew that shadowed them so much a few characters looked off-model, and a human cast that had very little energy or charisma. The characters' voices were more or less going to be one of the only shreds of recognizability.

Really? Where would one find this, I'd be interested in reading it.

I didn't much care for the voices in that either...though I liked the movie, and may be the only one here that did. I think the Bugs Bunny voice was the worst, and for the main character of the film that is a real minus. Billy West's Bugs just plain sucks, when will Warner Bros. get a clue and find someone else? I also thought the Foghorn Leghorn voice was particularly bad, and the same actor followed it up with an MCI commercial that was even worse. Bob Bergen's voices were the best of the movie, and Sylvester's was okay. The movie really needed folks like Joe Alaskey to make the voices better, and it would have been much better.

Which reminds me, how come "Space Jam" has never shown up on CN's Cartoon Theatre. TNT and TBS show it, so I don't see why CN can't. Though I do think if "Space Jam" got mixed in with the other movies on the "Day After Thanksgiving Looney Tunes Movie Marathon", it would cause some sort of a ruckus here.

I've been pondering this for a while, too. Maybe "Space Jam" hasn't aired on Cartoon Network because it has live action in it and the network decided they didn't want to air it because some scenes had no animated characters at all.

But you can bet that when it makes the rounds after HBO, the Scooby movie will show up on CN.
