I had to pick this up. The artwork looks great and I'm a big fan of Cooke's stuff.

Grabbed it today. I'm fairly excited about this series, especially based on the previews I have seen.

I picked up the second issue and wasn't disappointed. I hope the rest of the arc stays on track.

Been awhile since we've heard or talked about this storyline, hasn't it? Well, after repeated delays, the finale to this arc will finally see print. DC Comics has issued the following press release, as seen below.
The final chapter of the story “Kryptonite,” written by Darwyn Cooke and illustrated by Tim Sale, is now scheduled to appear in Superman Confidential #11 , scheduled to arrive in stores on January 16.
The climatic finale to the harrowing tale of Superman’s first exposure to Kryptonite is here! Comics superstars Darwyn Cooke and Tim Sale bring the fireworks for an ending you won’t ever forget!
The story that was solicited to appear in Superman Confidential #11 , written by B. Clay Moore with art and cover by Phil Hester and Ande Parks, now will appear in Superman Confidential #12. This issue is solicited in the December Previews to arrive in stores in February.
The talkback has been updated accordingly with the new information. A hardcover release of this story-arc is slated for an early 2008 release.

Was it really me that posted this talkback and then forgot all about it?!? I think I was going to pick up the first issue, but it was sold out by the time I got to the store...
I have to say, in recent months, I've since flipped through the pages of both Superman and Batman: Confidential, and didn't find either to be worthy of me picking up. However, I must say that I forgot all about this Darwyn Cooke/Tim sale storyline...it might be worth picking up in Trade...but I think the idea of the "Confidential" books is another failed venture on DC's part, (didn't I hear that Batman: Confidential is getting cancelled)?

I grabbed issues #1-5 from my local shop after reading Darwyn Cooke's interview in The Comics Journal (which is great), though I probably would have just waited for the trade if I had known that the conclusion wasn't coming out until now. I thought they were pretty good, even if it's another one of those, "Let's go retell another early-days story" type of stories that I'm becoming less and less enchanted with conceptually.
Worth the trade, IMO, though I think they're soliciting a HC first.

Like everyone else it seems, I completely forgot about this book until Jim posted that press release. I picked up the first couple issue of the first arc but when the delays started to kick in, I eventually stopped picking up the title and opted to pick up the trade. I'm glad I opted to wait for the collected edition of the storyline. But the first few issues were pretty excellent and I'm looking forward to seeing the conclusion.
I am surprised they just didn't whip up a Superman Confidential Annual to shove the conlusion in instead of putting it in the book six issues later.

Jim said this story is slated for an early 2008 release in hardcover form. I checked Amazon.com and it said that the hardcover was released in December 2007, which is obviously wrong. I then checked Chapters.ca and it said the same thing. Meanwhile I can't find a listing for it on the DC Comics website. Does anyone know if DC has actually scheduled this and when it might be released?
