I would like to recall a few more funny commercials I've seen for the Cartoon Network featuring oldschool HB heros and villians.

In one ad,Birdman: Coffee Break, the guy who gives the missions on Birdman finds Avenger on the control panel. He warns Birdman that his claws are next to the dangerous "Doomsday" button. Birdman, however, begs to differ, thinking Avenger is loyal and obedient, and asks him to press the coffee button, which is next to the Doomsday button. The mission guy looks on in fear as Avenger trys to press the button, thinking he will press the Doomsday button. Then, Avenger presses the button and coffee comes up. Birdman is like "what have I told you?" That is, until Avenger presses the Doomsday button. Is Avenger evil after all, or was that just a mistake from Birdman's carelessness? Why is there even a Doomsday button?

In this other ad, Challenge of the Superfriends: Whiners can be Losers, the Legon of Doom has a meeting like in the first CotS cartoon, but, however, the members interupt Lex Luthor and aks for some items to help them stop the Superfriends. Lex is surprised and annoyed that they need something more. He even points out that Cheeta has razor sharp claws, Brainiac has deadly mind games and Scarecrow is, uh, made out of straw. "What more could you need?" Bizzaro and Soloman Grunde ask for utility belts like Batman and Robin, claiming they will "crush" the Superfriends with utility belts. Cheeta asks for a magic lasoo, like Wonder Woman. Manta Ray asks for a Sea Horse. Toyman "demands more toys." Lex tells them to stop. "What do I look like, Santa Claus? You're wasting valueable time!" He was about to proceed with the meeting, when Brainiac interupted. "Look, all I want is pants. A decent pair of pants!" They all agree about wanting pants, leaving Lex annoied and sickened.

These commericals were hilarous. What do you think?

The one that always cracks me up is Fred Flintstone, Chicken & Thundarr the Barbarian carpooling in Fred's Flintmobile(wonder if it was made in Flint, MI? :p ) looking for a space to park. They run into Space Ghost, who offers them his spot, then remembers he flew in that day. :D They finally find an empty space, but have to compete with Speed Racer to get the space. Neither of them wins though, 'cause Judy Jetson crashes down right on top of Speed's car. :D

And of course, "Boo Boo, Baba, Dee Dee! :D "

One of my favorites...the Legon of Doom has captured Aquaman and Wonder Woman and about to do way with them. All of the sudden the Powder... err... Powerpuff Girls crashes through the roof and kiss baddie butt! When Wonder Woman tells then that they are deeloping into great superheros, one of them (I forgot who) tells her that they hope they would be as well devoloped as her! Talk about PG-13 material here! And Wonder Woman tries to cover up her boobies and looked a little embarised!

--is the Mojo Jojo after-hours commercial where he starts hollering at a male gorilla. "You are not the alpha male! I am the alpha male!" The ape then stands up on his hind legs, and Mojo gets an eyeful of...well...something. :o "Oooooh...why does he get all the girls?" Mojo complains at the end.

Frustratingly enough, I caught just the tail end of a new (to me, anyway) CN promo while switching channels one night. It involved the Powerpuff Girls, the Mayor, and Mojo Jojo hiding in a closet (intending to jump out & surprise someone, I gathered), and Mojo jabbering on about it until the others kicked him out. Has anybody else seen this?

BTW: The 'Alpha Male' promo described by Dr. Belch is available for viewing* on the Cartoon Cartoon Fridays Fansite. Go to http://ccf.toonzone.net/ and click onto 'Videos' at the top of the page.

* At least other people get to view it; I'm afraid I only get the soundtrack.

Droopy: What are the Smurfs claled in Mexico?
Shaggy: Like, they're "Los Smurfs". You know what they call the "Pound Puppies" in France?
Droopy: You mean they don't call them "Pound Puppies"?
Shaggy: No, they call them "Les Puppies Royale"!
:: Droopy gives Shaggy a Look ::
:: they drive up to a retro-style restaurant with the large CN logo outside ::
Shaggy: Wow...home of the top toon stars!
Droopy: I can't see over the steering wheel...

I just happened to remember a funny live-action promo from when "Powerpuff Girls" first came on, called "Powerpuff Patrol," which featured a group of women training to become "Powerpuff Girls" (dressing in the PPG colors, watching the videos, watching a punching bag, etc.) The funniest part of the commercial was when they chased after a group of guys in white labcoats, coke-bottle glasses and purple rubber gloves ("The Dexters"). I loved that one!

"We don't just stick a bow on someone's head and put them out on the street..."

I really liked the superheroes at the movies, where they go on forever about wanting popcorn, pop, and where to sit. "This is a job for...a twenty!" and "Can't move.....feet....stuck to......floor...."
Classic.

I also enjoyed, the first time I saw it, the one with Yogi being caught without his employment ID. "You named your kid Space Ghost?"

Man, that was hysterical! Any commercial with the Superfriends or old Hanna-Barbera cartoons are hysterical. I'd love to see a Justice League meets the Superfriends commercial.

Another funny commercial is when all the cartoons take a sick day and Cartoon Network has to put on 24 hours of some horrible show with some animal. I wish I could remember the whole commercial, but it was gold!

Another good one is where Sheep tries to find a seat in the studio cafeteria. Everyone makes fun of him until Thelma tries to take his side and calls everyone a freak. Jimmy a afront of this and starts a food fight. A large bone falls onto one table with real actors (voice actors, mabye?) and one of them exlaimes why he nevers eat there anymore (Long version).
There's also a fav of mine where one real employee ask (OH MAN! I forgot his name! Ogg, is it? ) to help out in the recording room with Edd. Ogg tells him if he can find cause it's been so long since he's dome one. They walk though the cubicals( knocking out on of the toons!) as Ogg complains about his situation ( You can see Dino Boy trying to avoid Ogg). As they approach the elevator, Fred, Chicken, and Thundar exits... (I'm not sure of the exact dialog)
Fred: Put a shirt on, Ogg.
Ogg: Funny. Do they sell man clothes where you buy yours?
As they enter the room the enginier tells Ogg that he's glad Ogg came (Ogg looking smug) and asks him to loosen up the mike stand that Johnny Bravo tighened. Ogg storms out of the room.
Does anyone else remembers the Cartoon Network editorials especialy one with Fred? Calling Thelma a tramp and stalking Daphnine!

That's one of the great things about CN's commercials.. there's a certain sense of continuity. For instance, you could easily run the Parking commercial and the Ogg commercial back to back. I'm pretty sure that the 2 Stupid Dogs/Dino commercial and the badgeless Yogi commercial fit somewhere in there as well.

The CN commercials are cool! As well as the ones already mentioned, CN UK do a series of them called "Tales from F.E.A.R.", about the criminal organisation Birdman used to fight. There are some good ones-

"Evil Banker, may we bank this $1 million ransom we recieved?"
"No! All you ever do is bank $1 million! Why don't you do something else, like take out a mortgage or ask about a new account?!"
"Ok evil banker, may we bank half a a million dollars?"
"Yes"
"And then.....another half a million dollars"

I saw that one this morning. The scene opens up at the receptionist office. The sect. answers the phone and Fred calls in sick. The sect. tells him to drink penty of fluids. There is then a wide shot of Fred at a pool say he'll do that. Then Mayor calls from the golf green complaining being green. Then the calls starts comming in like crazy and she call the head office and yells "We have a big problem!" The next shot is the TV promoting a 24 hour marathon on Quikie Koala and the viewer is showing signs of disgust!

Yeah, that ad's cool! However, I never stick around for the last part.

Brak: (immitating old lady) Hello? This is Space Ghost's mother and Space Ghost can't come in today 'cause he's sick! (Back to his normal voice) I think the old bat bought it.

The 24-hour marathon was of Kwikie(sp?) Koala, a VERY short-lived HB series and the last creation of Tex Avery. Never saw it, but it looks pretty stupid.
