What did everyone else think?
It's revealed that Leela isn't an alien at all--both of her parents were mutants.
In retrospect I kind of saw this coming...
It explains why there are no other one-eyed aliens like Leela, plus you could see another cyclops in the episode I Second that Emotion.
Either that or they would have tied her in with The Simpsons' Kang and Kodos (their one eye makes them look a little similar to Leela). I found it interesting that, like the robots, the mutants are still treated like second-class citizens in New New York. They're kept out of the way so that visiting aliens won't think less of our species. I could see why the parents did what they did; especially if aliens are treated with a higher regard.

I thought the last few seconds of clips were incredibly sweet: the ones where Leela's parents are shown watching out for her, even if she can't see them. Awwwwww. :)

Last Night's Futurama was great. The scene where Leela has the gun pointed towards her parents was one of the most melodramtic sequences of the series. And when her parents said they they killed her parents (long stiory - not long if you seen the episode) I was just on the edge of my seat. A truly amazing episode - one of the best. And FOX wants to cancel this??? Gah! Plus the video montage at the end was very touching, yet fit right in perfectly with the series. A highlight of the season so far, and the highlight of last night.

Does anyone else get the sense that they're wrapping up all the loose ends? They knew that they were going to be cancelled, didn't they?

Considering the time needed for a renewal decision on this show, I doubt they could have predicted that the show was not being renewed this season...

Yes, a great ending. I wasn't sure if Leela was in blatant self-denial (she noticed she didn't mutate after her dip in the sludge pit, and we know muties are immune to the stuff) or really dense when she pointed the gun at the robed figures and repeatedly kept threatening to shoot them for killing her parents.
Great line--Bender says, "Hey, what am I screaming for? I don't have any DNA." "Yes, but afterwards, we're going to beat you," replies one of the muties. Bender resumes screaming.
Hermes, our favorite bureaucrat, gets a nice appearance (haven't seen a lot of him of late), serving the prof with a citation for his toxic-waste spewing rubber nose maker. "Isn't that the machine that makes rubber noses?" "It does other things!"

I think the genius of this show is nicely summed up with these lines of dialogue:
Leela: "Wait a minute, why aren't you gonna kill us anymore?"
Bender: "Yeah? What are you, chicken? (imitates chicken)"
Fry: "Shut up you two, we can kill ourselves when we get home."
I can't believe this show is being cancelled. How can you not love a show with mutant babies and an alcoholic robot?

Words cannot describe this show. I haven't seen it in a long time and I just watched the tape of last night's episode. Most television show crews could try for a thousand years and not be able to put together a show that excels in as many ways as Futurama. The intelligent dialogue, the clever storylines, the rich visuals. David Cohen told us we can help save the show by writing physical letters (not email) to Gail Berman, president of Fox Network, and Sandy Grushow, chairman of Fox Entertainment Group.
Let's get serious, people.

This is a great show, and Canadians have been very unlucky, but recently lucky with the show for the past few weeks. Due to the Olympics, the Canadian channel Global TV has been airing Futurama marathons every Saturday at 11:30pm in place of SNL until the Olympics end. Just wto weeks ago they aired 5 straight hours of the show. I can't remember the last time I actually sat infront of the TV for that long , and I enjoyed every minute. This has been a great chance to catch up on episodes that I've missed. I am gonna miss this show.
And Dark Knight...that was my favorite joke from the episode which deserves repeating:
Leela: "Wait a minute, why aren't you gonna kill us anymore?"
Bender: "Yeah? What are you, chicken? (imitates chicken)"
Fry: "Shut up you two, we can kill ourselves when we get home."
I really hope things get better for this series...
