Now, What happened to him in Batman Beyond? Is he merely dead? If so, How? and Did he upload his conciousness into the Batcomputer? (as per that really lame movie with Ah-nold)

They never really cam eout and said, but I think he just died of old age. At least, that's what makes sense

I wouldn't see Alfred wishing to be a utility in the bat cave - I think he'd have wasted his time too since it all remained unused for years... what a dull existence..

I think it's more likely he left. I can't see him being happy with Bruce continuing on the mantle when his health was clearly failing him (Rebirth). I think he would have left Bruce's service if he felt that Bruce was on a one way ticket down a slippery slope and was no longer listening to him. Alfred would be unlikely to watch his friend and master suffer such a decline (perhaps he went and looked after Dick for a bit).
When Bruce hung up the suit, I'd imagine he was too stubborn to ask Alfred back.
Alfred would be dead by now and have become another bitter regret for Bruce to be burdened with.

Yeah, he probably just died of old age. It would have been very cool for him to go out somehow protecting Bruce. Then maybe that would explain another reason why he quit being Batman. But i'm just hypothesising. There was really no set story on what became of him.

If the old BATMAN BEYOND website can be considered proof, they DID have a "cyber-Alfred" feature on the Batcomputer. Ech.

Anyway, I think that Alfred just died of old age - at least I hope so. I certainly hope nothing horrifying would happen to him, he's the last person to deserve it. I remember once hearing the creators saying that in one episode they would show that he has a grave on the grounds of Wayne Manor somewhere. I think that would be nice, personally. Too bad they never picked up on this.

(View my "fourth animated movie" thread, if you like - I talk about wanting Alfred's "fate" to be revealed in whatever the next BATMAN BEYOND movie is - if there ever IS another one.)

Bah, you lot are waaay too romantic! ;)

Alfred left Bruce because he was becoming a sad obsessive old man who didn't know when to stop - Alfred did, they parted company and then Alfred died leaving Bruce feeling eternally guilty and rather bad tempered too.

I like the idea that Bruce broke up the entire Bat Family and created resentment with all the members.

I like a bit of tragedy in my stories :D

I'd like to think that Alfred died peacefully in his sleep at the age of 105 after having a nice midnight snack of tea and crumpets. :D

I don't know how old Alfred was in B: TAS or TNBA, but I seriously doubt he lived long enough to see Bruce struggling with health problems. Since I think he died of old age, a more interesting question for me would be what the last words he said to Bruce were. I guess we can only speculate, because I want to see the death of Alfred about as much as I want to see the death of Batman, and that's really a story that should never be told. They would be amazing stories, but do you really want to know how something like that ends?

What is the age difference meant to be in the cartoon? I always imagined Alfred to be in his late 50s when Bruce was in his late 20s/early 30s..... in which case, he could have been feasibly alive when Bruce's health began to fail, although I must concede I hadn't taken that into account in my previous post!

I hope nothing bad happened to Alfred. I also hope nobody turned him into any kind of monster. Personally, I think Alfred is a very nice and loyal person. The WB might make a movie and tell what happened to Alfred as well as Nightwing. :)

He died of old age. I just don't see any other way for him to go in BB time.
