View Full Version : Anime/Manga of the Year?

2007 is the 100th anniversary of anime, and it's almost over, so I was wondering if we could have an Anime/or Manga of the Year nomination, poll, and awards for anime or manga with any releases in 2007. If we can, I nominate Naruto. I finished manga volume 27 last night and I must say it deserves to be the Manga of the Year. What do you think?

I nominate Gurren Lagann for best anime of the year. (for there is no equal)
Manga of the year is tough, since I haven't read any new manga in a while. I guess I would nominate Naruto for that. (the new chapters have been exciting, I guess)

As far as American releases go...
Anime of the Year: Tekkon Kinkreet
Manga of the Year: Death Note
Rolling Cloud
12-04-2007, 06:50 PM
Manga: Monster (Naoki Urasawa can really write a good story)
Anime: Minami-Ke
KuwabaraTheMan

If we're sticking to anime that started in Japan in 2007, the obvious best is Ookiku Furikabutte. Nothing else really comes close to it in terms of quality.
For new manga, the jury is still out. I'll have to think more before I make a selection.

I'd say Paprika, but it was made last year (though it just came out on DVD last week). So I'd go with Tekkonkinkreet.

It's New Year's Eve. Voting closes today at some point, but I'll still take votes until I announce the winners, if there are even enough votes to have winners... and even if there are, you could just figure it out on your own... and I'll count the nominations as votes to increase the chances of actually having winners...
Anyway, It's the last day of the year of the centennial of anime, and since I probably won't be around for the bicentennial, what is the...

Analysis:
Gurren Lagann coming out on top by so much is no surprise, but with Gainax getting so much love, I'm surprised there were no Rebuild of Evangelion mentions.
