That's what I thought. I lost track of another dealer of extremely rare cartoons back in Sept. In this guy's case I think he was at or near Ground Zero on Sept. 11 (not a pretty thought)...

At least Almeida lived on the West Coast then, although could be he was visiting the East and became one of the very unlucky victims of Sept. 11 also.

Well, I checked the Associated Press' query list under "Almeida" and no name came back (unfortunately, the search database is on the AP's private site, but you can check with some of the websites of the New York area newspapers and at least a couple of them should have their own list of names).

I truthfully would doubt if Jason Almeida was one of the unfortunate victims of 9-11... He may have cashed in his chips though elsewhere. Or be in the army, or traveling, or even indisposed somehow... coma, hospital etc.

My other guy I can't find at all and I believe strongly that he did tell me that he was going to NYC in early Sept. for some kind of visit.

Where's Jason?

Well, actually, I did get a tiny update on Jason recently.
Last month, he was on eBay selling "Flip the Frog" video tapes under "Matinee-Classics." But, ever since then, I haven't heard ANYTHING from him. Also, eBay, now, has some assoicate (including WB and Turner:eek:). So that's probably the reason why Jason hasn't been selling any early LT or MM recently.
So at least we know NOW that he's not dead!;)

I can't understand that myself. I am one of these people that sent him my payment for videos. There is no excuse for not sending an e-mail to notify us about what is going on!

If you ask me, but I think that Jason is showing a poor excuse when it comes to his customers who either pay him or trade for videos....He should repsond to our e-mails, and Jason is also a member of Toon Forums here.I would say that in the last two months, I have sent him two e-mails and I have been really busy myself with film projects and so many hours at work, but at least I will get back with anybody that has a question or want's to do a trade with me.

I mean, get it together Jason...There is a lot of people very upset with you right now, so please get back to the people you do business with. :mad:

Maybe we'll need to file a Missing Persons report to find out what Jason is REALLY up to! Looks like the only way to know about the wherabouts of our tapes that he owes us! :rolleyes:

I spotted someone on alt.movies.silent that uses the screen name "Vitaphone", with the e-mail vitaphone@aol.com However, I'm not sure is this is Jason or someone else that uses the same screename. My doubts about this come from the fact that he/she occasionally signs their name with the initials "JMC" and lives in New York City (odd since Jason's address is listed in Freemont, California; near san Jose).

Would anyone know it this person is Jason Almeida or not? I really would like to know, since he has quite a few tapes to owe me! :confused:

Are you SURE that vitaphone@aol.com is Jason Almedia? One thing I noticed was that the posts made under this screename/e-mail were dated from the last few months (late 2001 & early 2002), a handful from 2000, and many from 1996 and 1997. Also, he/she signed under the initials "JMC" (which apparently do not spell out Jason Almeida), and claims to live in New York. In addition, there was no weblink to his page under posts under vitaphone@aol.com, unlike the ones signed under vitaphone@thetaband.com and vitaphone@my-deja.com. Unless someone knows that Jason has an AOL account and lives in New York at least part of the time, this may not be the same person and I would hate to bug them! :confused:

Very interesting....Kent when was the last time you e-mailed Jason?It could be another person using the vitaphone screen name, but I heard from other people(from other web-sites) that he has been checking out other classic movie sites.

I think that 'vitaphone' is a group of people, and this one is not Jason Almeida. There is too much evidence against it.

Of course, that is only my thought.
