A little just before the boards went down, my mom was in the kitchen and said, "Quick, hurry up. The cat looks like it's choking!" So I quickly ran into the kitchen to see the cat, but it ran off. I chased it around downstairs until I reached her. I kneeled down and I saw what was happening, SHE WAS CHOKING ON HER COLLAR! It was in a position, that it was still around her neck, but it was in her mouth. I yelled to my mom to get some scissors. While she was coming I noticed my cat was bleeding in her mouth. I was getting really nervous. My mom finally brought the scissors and I tried to get the collar off. I finally got under the collar and cut it. If we weren't here, who knows what could of happened to our cat. She's OK now, I just have to get her a new collar.

I would consider either not getting another collar or getting a velcro one that would easily detach if something like that happened again.
The End.

That's a tense situation. Glad it turned out okay...
But does the cat need a collar around the house?

She's an indoor/outdoor cat, so she needed a flea collar. I guess it just got loose.

Good for you Patrick! Glad the kitty is all right. Both our cats are inside cats, but we always wanted to have them with collars if they got loose. When we just had our first cat, she didn't like the collar, and she tried to get out of it and almost choked herself. So, we don't use collars on either of the cats. I wouldn't even try it with my kitten, she's too wild and I know she would freak with something around her neck..and she's the one whose always making daring escapes outside! Speaking of cats...my parents and I just got home from the movies, and it was completely dark in the house. I went for the kitchen lights and saw this shadowed form on the kitchen counter...just about scared the life out of me. It was the kitten, waiting for us to come home....and....mom had left a few pieces of ham from breakfast on the counter. We found one underneath one of the kitchen chairs. I never knew my cat could leave a room so fast, lol, it was awesome!

Good thing it's still alive. I've had a situation like that, too, except it doesn't have a happy ending... :(

Yeah Patrick!! I'm glad everything worked out okay! :) I know how scary it can be when one of your pets is in a very dangerous situation. Collars seem to either be a blessing or more dangerous than they're worth. My cat got his collar stuck on something once, but he had one of those collar with safty elastic on it, so he didn't get hurt before we found him.
spectre316-I'm really sorry to hear about your cat. :(

...
I was hoping it would be like YEAR ONE, and you skidded across the floor, scooped up the cat and tossed it as you got shot in the arm. Oh well...

Glad your cat's okay.........Heh, and I'll bet she didn't even thank you! Nooooooo, it's always the same thing: "Feed me! Pet me! Dangle your sock for me!" It's always take, take, take! LEARN TO GIVE, WHY DON'T YOU????!!!!!

Yeah I had a cat its dead now chewed on christmas lights. (the lights were on the tree) for some reason the cat would hide in the tree near the top. But I guess it got bored and chewed on some lights. My dog did the same thing expect with a Fish pump but luckily it was not plugged in at the time.
