I rented the first volume of this anime the other day out of curiosity and it's probably one of the most boring animes I've had to sit through. There is character development but the story doesn't go anywhere. The English dubbing was horrible, had to switch over to the sub track. The Opening theme is probably the best part. Does it get better after the first volume?

IIRC it was never released past the first volume.

It got a full whack on Channel Five in 2002/2003.
Hell was excedently frosty that year.

This was an attempt by Urban Vision to branch out from their catalog of mature-themed anime and break into the kid market. It misfired terribly because Urban Vision purchased the rights to the series sight unseen, thinking it would a good kids' show based on the cartoony character design. But the series is actually very violent, and contains some truly bizarre imagery that just isn't appropriate for children. For example, the little creatures that the human girls are trying to protect have a sexual taboo against bare feet, and in one of the episodes, one of the male creatures commits the equivalent of a sexual assault on a female by trying to pull off her shoes! Nothing obscene or explicit, but this is heady stuff for what was supposed to be a kids' show. I think Urban Vision let this project die on the vine when they finally found out what they had.

Actually, Karl it does have a second volume but no more than that.
Conan-san, yeah I remember hearing about it airing on that Ch. 5 in the UK. I wanted to watch it when I went to London when it was airing but the hotel didn't get a watchable picture of the station. I was able to get the other 4 terrestrial channels for some reason.

I saw the first four episodes at convention showings and rather enjoyed them. I was very disappointed when nothing more was released. Since they apparently completed dubbing the series, I wish some American TV network would pick it up.
