One thing I have always enjoyed with the WB cartoons is the impossible stunts that the characters always are pulling. For instance, I saw "My Favorite Duck" over the weekend. In one scene Daffy Duck flips Porky Pig's boat upside down with him still in it. Then Daffy flies into a tree with Porky's fishing line. Daffy gives the line a tug and yanks Porky out of the boat. Porky then proceeds to swim, so he thinks, through mid-air to the tree branch Daffy is standing on. It isn't until Daffy points it out, that Porky realizes he is in the air, instead of underwater, and plummets to earth.

Another favorite is from "Porky and Daffy" where Daffy rides around on an invisible bicycle. Also in "Going Going Gosh" Wile. E Coyote paints a pictures of a highway near the edge of a cliff. Of course the Roadrunner can run right into the picture, and so can a truck. But when the Coyote attempts this, he crashes through and falls off the cliff on the other side.

These are only a few of my favorites. What about the rest of you?

I'm so crazy, I don't know that this is impossible!

I like the one with the roadrunner too. It just makes you think "Where did the roadrunner go and where does the picture lead?" I always liked the mid-air walk too. Stopping inches from the ground after a really long fall. EVERYTHING DROPPY DOES! His stunts are IMPOSSIBLE and I love them all! I know Droopy isn't WB, but oh well. The best stunt of all...(drumroll) Getting shot in the head and showing up in the very next cartoon!!!! Yay!

I like Bugs' rope trick in "Ali Baba Bunny" when Hassan wanders into some kind of hole in the sky. I also like in "Porky in Wackyland" when the Dodo draws a window and waves to Porky from halfway in the window. And Sylvester's running up the sky in "Peck Up Your Troubles" with no explanation given besides "Anything can happen in a cartoon."

How about "Daffy Duck and Egghead," where Daffy's reflection in the pond comes out and shakes hands with Daffy.

For other studios, Felix the Cat takes the cake! Felix's stunts and tricks are highly impossible and extremely magical as well as humorous. For a good example, Felix popping out of a hot radiator in "Sure-Locked Homes" without a scratch or burn. An all time favorite of mine (and a real classic) is Felix's tail, which can turn into a cane ("Felix in Hollywood"), a club ("Felix in Fairyland"), a flute ("Outdoor Indore"), the famous question mark ("Feline Follies"), or anything else.

I always wondered what would have happened had Coyote jumped onto the back of the truck just before it had driven through the picture. Would he go with with the truck? Would he still smash through the picture and down the cliff while the truck kept driving on? Would the truck and he fly off the cliff???

Personally, I always loved the powderoom trick Bugs pulls on Sam in those Pirate cartoons. I also love the nightime trick Bugs pulls on elmer in "Wabbit Twouble," along with the classic "Rabbititus" stunt pulled in "Harer Tonic."

And what about those cat's in "Kitty Cornered?"

Such probing questions...

How about in "Wabbit Who Came To Supper", Bugs can magically make the clock strike midnight and throw confetti, making Fudd think it's New Year's Eve, with no explanation of how he could time it to the exact moment or where that confetti came from.
Another one is the whole end scene in "Mouse Wreckers". Hubie and Bertie reverse Claude Cat's house to make him freak out and run away, by nailing all the furniture, rugs, lamps, etc., to the cieling! And they do this over the span of only a minute or two! In "Cinderella Meets Fella", Egghead doesn't just tip his hat, he tips his entire head! What about in "Hare Ribbin', when about 5 minutes of the cartoon is underwater? How can a rabbit and dog breathe underwater? Also, in "The Great Piggybank Robbery", Daffy Duck gets "erased" by Rubberhead, and then walks in the door from the next room!
