What a dull way to end the series. CN has had so many opprotunites to show rare B&W cartoons but instead they replayed the same ones over and over and over and over and over and over....you get the point.
Oh well...even if most of the shows were pretty boring, I'm still gonna miss LNB&W. :(

They didn't even show 'Milk and Money'!

Boring, good thing I didn't stay up for it. How did last night's chat go?

Well, I'm happy that I got copies of two Foxy cartoons. I had no idea that CN played them on a regular basis. I thought they were like the Bosko cartoons and CN didn't have acess to them.

I'm happy I went to bed after Tom and Jerry. ;) This was a very boring way to end the show. Why couldn't they show anything good?

The chat was a lot of fun. Six of us were there (me, Jack, Foley Is Good, Do-Do, Mike, and Red Hot Ryder). The show wasn't that great, but we had a good time anyways. :D
At least we'll get "Happy Birthdaze" tonight on The Popeye Show!

Out of curiosity - with exception to GAK who works with the Toonheads stuff, do Cartoon Network execs (that deal with what classic cartoons go on in the timeslots) even READ this board?

Yes. "Bozo" is the producer of The Bob Clampett Show and The Popeye Show and he reads and posts here. We also have some various CN programmers lurking about (even though they don't post).

Maybe we can hope WB is finally coming out with some Looney Tunes DVD's. Can you say "The Classic Age of Porky Pig" with every Porky cartoon from 1935 to 1943?
CN is becoming an AMC... :(

I'm sorry that I missed the chat, I fell asleep with the TV on. I woke up a few times during LNB&W and could tell that it wasn't anything special.

I wasn't on the chat, because I fell asleep early ('bout 11:00 p.m.).
BTW, I actually wish CN was like AMC (the OLD AMC that showed silent films, Fleischer cartoons, uncut movies, and no commericals).
They could call it AAC (American Animation Classics), which would ONLY feature classic cartoons (WB, MGM, Disney, DePatie-Freleng, Lantz, Iwerks, Van Beuren, Fleischer, Famous Studios, Columbia/Screen Gems and Terrytoons) ALL UNCUT without commericals! Now that's what I call an-all cartoon channel!

Not a bad idea. Rather than start a network like this from scratch, the easiest way to insure at or near 100% cable carriage would be to convert an existing channel that's already in nearly every home such as Lifetime or USA Network to this all uncut cartoon channel. But since that's not going to happen, anyone care to launch a fundraising drive to start it ourselves? ;) :D

Boomerang features only classic cartoons, but mostly Hanna-Barbera ones made for TV. IIRC, it was mentioned that Boomerang will be adding new classic cartoons to its lineup. Unfortunately, I don't get Boomerang, and don't know of too many cable-TV companies that carry it. Boomerang mostly shows up on satellite TV providers' channel lineups (I think). :(
As many of you remember, I posted a Cartoon Network schedule proposal a while back (as my first post, no less!) when everyone was complaining about the new schedule when it became avaliable. I have since made a few revisions to my schedule proposal, due to the positive feedback I got here at TTTP and after I took the time to learn about the non-classic CN cartoons that seem to be taking over the entire schedule! I can post my final revised CN schedule proposal if anyone is interested. If so, I really could use your comments or suggestions! :bosko:

AMC also used to show Noveltoons they owned as fillers. One of them was Herman the Mouse's solo, "Campus Capers", which I'm dying to see again. It was about two years ago when they aired it. Does ANYONE have this short? If you do, e-mail or PM me!

I don't consider TV cartoons classic.
it was mentioned that Boomerang will be adding new classic cartoons to its lineup.
Why? To make people who don't get it feel bad?

That's why Boomerang stinks.

No, so people who don't get it demand it.
I'm happy Boomerang is adding more classic programming even though I don't have it. Would you want CN to stop airing Looney Tunes if you're cable company no longer carried CN?

First, I suppose that the quality of the last LNB&W is relative: they showed six cartoons I didn't have that I now do have, so for me, it was a decent episode.
Second, now that there is no SPECIFIC outlet for black and white cartoons, perhaps CN (or, more to the point, whoever handles Acme Hour at CN) will start running a few on Acme Hour, given that Acme also runs in the wee hours as well. Just a thought.
Third, cable systems add channels by contract with the owner of the network. Boomerang can only be added if a cable system decides that there is enough interest to make it worth the cost. If a cable system decides a channel is worth the cost and space is available to add it, then it negotiates an agreement. Typically, when a system is expanding service, it adds whatever channels it feels work best. Network owners can also package channels they own together as a set in one contract if they choose. It is possible-not certain, but possible-that AOL-Time Warner could start making demand for Boomerang grow and then, as contracts for the Turner grouping start to come up, package it with CN, TBS, TNT, etc. to get it on more systems. But don't hold your breath. I wouldn't mind seeing Boomerang added-Toon Disney was just added and I am under-whelmed to say the least! It makes The Disney Channel look good by comparison. *sigh* Oh, well.
Just personal opinion on the subject - but to me, toon disney has always been horrible. They have all that stuff in thier library and wont show it, what they do have they edit to death and rerun until what will most likely be the dawn of time -_____-
the best example I can think of, of them not using good material would equate to them having the GOOD Saturday morning Sonic the Hedgehog series, which the comic is based on and what hasnt aired in what seems like EONS and instead choosing to air the all out craptacular Aventures of Sonic the Hedgehog series...
UGH comes to mind.
I've heard the Disney classic shorts arent treated any better there either...

Yeah, Toon Disney only airs one-hour of classic Disney shorts per day. They run one half-hour of Donald's Quack Attack at 6:00am and another at midnight.
